It’s the end of the final battle. Once again, Sam and Dean have saved the world. Leaving the site of the battle, we see the boys putting their gear into Baby’s trunk then getting into her front seat(all through close-ups/tight shots, no shot wide enough to show the environment around, just the boys and the car).

Now the view is head-on of Sam and Dean sitting in the front seat. The boys turn and look at each other; you think they should appear beaten and worn out, but they don’t, they look content, almost happy.

“What now?” Sam asks.

Dean smirks and turns to face the road ahead of them, starting the car as he does so. The radio turns on at the low volume and we recognize its playing ‘Carry On Wayward Son.’

“Now, we drive.” he says.

Sam turns to face forward too, a smile on his face, and the shot becomes a side-view of him through the passenger side window. As Baby starts moving down the road to drive off into the distance, the shot becomes a wide shot as the music gets louder and this is what we see⬇️

⬆️ We recognize the night sky as the same one from the boys’ trip to heaven in “Dark Side Of The Moon” and we know. Though they won, Sam and Dean Winchester didn’t make it out of the final battle alive. They’ve saved the world for the last time.

And that’s it. We’re never shown their dead bodies, or anyone mourning their loss/givinf them a hunter’s funeral. Nothing explicitly sad, just Sam and Dean together and finally at peace.

The Men of Letters Bunker was lit with warm light as the inhabitants sat around a table in the library. 

Sam Winchester lounged in his seat, his phone in his hands as a lore book lay open in front of him. “But why are their necks so long?” Jack asked, staring at a photo of a giraffe on Dean’s phone. 

“That seems like a question for him,” Dean said, gesturing to the Angel that sat across from him. Castiel tilted his head, thinking over the question. Dean waited patiently as Jack continued to look up photos of the animal he found to be so strange.
