i think that in general fandom tends to focus overmuch on things like Wanting Love at the expense of Pride and Ego and so on. and i don't want to condemn that totally like i understand on both a mental and emotional level the fantasy of vulnerability that's being played with here but i think sometimes it has a deleterious effect on characterization and fandomized iterations of characters tend to come across sort of softer and weepier and flatter than canon versions
