I figured Merlin is absolutely perfect for this trend â¨ď¸
I was wondering if Bradley would make a memorial post.

Dying Merlin
NOTICE: As more and more fanfic writers are using generative AI for their works (you uncreative dweebs), I hereby swear on everything I hold dear that I have not and will NEVER use generative AI in ANY of my written work. Everything I post will be organically and creatively my own.

this world did not deserve you
It's never not funny to me that Leon, the most by the books Knight in all of Camelot, hears Merlin say "I need a crossbow to kill the king right now." And his first thought is "Damn Merlin is being funny as hell today" and hands him the best crossbow in the armory.
Let's be honest here. The fact that most of us hated Uther Pendragon so thoroughly is a testament to how brilliant of an actor Anthony Head was.
Because:
Look at this wonderful man.
I'm heartbroken.
a little tribute piece to anthony head. rip to a legend and the only uther in my heart

The 72-year-old British actor also had roles in shows including Merlin and Little Britain.
OhâŚ.
Lancelot's village was slaughtered in winter after a poor harvest. The raiders were hungry and cold themselves, and they filled their bellies with blood and warmed their hands with money. There were no survivors, except for him.
Lancelot took care of the bodies, his eyes cold and dead, just like winter. He ate the last of the food and he dug the graves, the shovel hitting the frozen ground with mindless precision.
Lancelot survived because he hid, and because he killed the one who found his hiding place. Later, he cleaned the sword with snow. Later, he left his empty home, where blood still bloomed on the iced ground. Later, he forgot the road back home because home didn't exist anymore.
He shivers in winter now.
Still, he cleans Merlin's bloody hands with snow, the gold in his eyes slowly seeping back into the icy blue.
Merlin survives because he hides and because he kills the ones who find his hiding place.
Later, Lancelot will dig a grave for the body. Later, he will follow Merlin back to Camelot. Later, he will touch Merlin's hands with a prayer on his lips that he would never forget his way back Home.
"What happened there?" Arthur whispered in the disquiet of the forest, kneeling beside his servant, who curled up in sleep in the corner of their camp.
Lancelot didn't have an answer for him. He didn't remember. His head felt hollow, scraped from the inside out, as disjointed thoughts echoed in there with a hissing sound. All he knew was that their last adventure left Merlin shivering in his bedroll, hugging himself with scraped arms in a last bid for comfort, as a single silent tear traveled across his cheek.
Lancelot reached out to swipe at it with a gentle hand and, while tugging Merlin's neckerchief to better hide the Fomorroh's scar from Arthur's eyes, revealed something else entirely.
All breath had left him as he stared at Merlin's heavily bruised throat. Cold horror ran through his veins, as hot rage bloomed in his heart at the monster who dared to hurt, to taint Merlin like this, to lay their hands on him as though they could stifle the sun and not be burnt for it.
He put his shaking fingers above the ugly bruises, and they were the perfect shape.
Merlin whimpered in his sleep and inched away from him.

Arthurâs bigotry can be excused because âhe never saw any good uses of magicâ (objectively untrue by Arthurâs standards)
But Merlin keeping his identity as an oppressed person a secret can never be excused even though he never got to see any positive reinforcement towards magic among his peers who didnât already know
Arthurâs violence against magical peoples can be excused because he really has convinced himself that magic is inherently harmful!
But when sorcerers act violently in self-defense, well, just because they know from experience that the crown intends them harm is no excuse!
Something about this feels a bit like one of those so-called âdouble standardsâ youâre always hearing about⌠where the oppressors are given grace which the oppressed demographic is notâŚ
âŚPerhaps influenced by the very social forces that the oppressed are opposing: no matter what they do, they are assumed evil and inferior by default, because of what they are.
And for the very social forces the oppressors uplift: no matter what they do, they are assumed just and righteous by default, because of what they are.
Every time I read someone saying the truth is Merlin lied and blah blah and some other similar accusations but not for his character's psychological intention, I feel so confused. Also when people want him to make up for "the terrible, awful lie" so bad even though they don't need any apologies for Merlin, that the guy has to hide a big part of his true self in every second of his life because he fears he'd be dead, having his kind being in a literal on going genocide. Watch the episode with Edwin Muirden, see how happy and relieved he was to have someone who's his kind, to be himself and to use magic in front of someone. If they see it like this in a series where the oppression and injustice are just presented right at their nose, no wonder how there are still so many victim blamers out there. As if some people have lost the sense of basic thinking. For so long he had to live under an impression that his head would literally be right off his shoulders if he revealed he was a sorcerer. He can't just reveal himself later on because of any reason after all that. Gwen almost died too, people. Be fr
Itâs always funny to me when I point out how Arthur's reaction to Merlin's magic proved that Merlin was valid in keeping his secret and people are like âArthur has never seen the good of magic. How did you expect him to react?â As if Gwen, who has ACTUALLY very few moments where magic did her any good, didnât have the literal response of âIâm pleasedâ when she figured it out.
Like the example was 5 minutes away guys⌠you just had to take off the Merthur blinders.
op your tags. say it louder bro.
