every now n then i think about how native americans as human beings just dont exist in like 99% of mainstream media. in movies or tv shows or books or video games or you know even in porn like we just arent people. when theres a native character theyre like a wild west indian. like truly to ppl we all died back in the 1900s.

#I was watching a TV show the other day where a Native American character showed up super briefly and #it was the ONLY show I can recall ever seeing where a one-off Native American character was just a Regular Guy #instead of like A Mystical Shaman or whatever #but this guy was just a guy! he was wearing one of those multi-row dentallium shell chokers. a blue button-up shirt #ring with a blue stone #and he owned a random business and lent the protags his fax machine #nothing he did onscreen had anything to do with the fact that he was Native American #and he looked just like a bunch of dudes I've seen around here (and the show is set in my state so)#but the kicker here is #you wanna know what show? guess #you won't guess right #because it was THE SENTINEL #the FREAKING Sentinel (1996)#WHICH #a) that's freaking WILD b) good for them c) it's EMBARRASSING that modern media is getting shown up #by a bad scifi buddy cop thriller made thirty years ago #anyway. hollywood do better. and also I've been thinking about this all week.
