Bad decision each Merlin character made (for me)
1. Merlin
Where do I even began lol. Merlin is the pioneer of bad decisions. Poisoning Morgana, letting his paranoia engulf him hence making enemy of Mordred, choosing Arthur over magic, etc. SO MANY. Sometimes Merlin is so indecisive especially about things involving Morgana and magic that it led to a mess of decisions. Do I blame him? Lowkey but I also understand the struggle he's going through. I mean boy literally have weight of a kingdom on his shoulder with zero emotional support, 1 manipulative dragon and 1 cowardly old man. I'm sorry Gaius but it's true.
2. Gaius
Since I already mention it lol. If he wasn't so against it, Merlin would've told Morgana about his magic the first chance he got. Gaius is so haunted by his own fear sometimes and I truly don't get how he think leaving her in the shadow is better than letting Merlin help her. Also, sometimes the thing about Gaius is that he's so protective of Merlin that he kinda harm others to protect him. Like with Finna. Also Morgana in a way.
3. Gwen
Asking Lancelot to protect Arthur. Gwen is a great character and it's hard to find things she did wrong. I'm not gonna count the time she was enchanted but man, you could've asked literally any other knight. Thinking that Lancelot die because of her vow. I know she didn't know the real reason, how could she? But still wish she looked at bigger picture that's a knight of Camelot I'm sure he have reasons beyond that.
4. Arthur
I think its his blind confidence on his family member. Him not believing Gaius or Merlin during that one episode where Gaius dissapeared β like are you fucking kidding me Arthur? Are you blind? That whole episode made me want to grind him to dust. Also, most time in season 4 when he was manipulated by Aggravaine get my blood pressure rising. Yeah he was manipulated but still, God just listen to your friends you clotpole.
5. Morgana
Just β the whole season 4 and 5. Why are you so relentlessly hating it got tiring at one point. I understand why she become evil but why on earth would you hate Arthur and Gwen so much? The way she switched on them 360 is insane. That damn smirk every episode is also annoying, we get it you're evil and look hot doing it. Stop smirking. I think its a Pendragon thing where they got manipulated so easily.
6. Lancelot
Mr. Oh so noble have insecurity issues and abandonment issues but on reverse where he's the one constantly leaving because he was afraid of being left or rejected. I will die on this hill. Leaving Gwen thereby making decision for her without even asking her what she truly want, going into that veil.... I think ironically Lancelot is secretly selfish. He do selfless thing to feel better for himself.
7. Gwaine
SEARCHING FOR MORGANA LIKE A FUCKING IDIOT. GWAINE YOU COULD'VE SURVIVED. This is hand down the thing I'm most annoyed with about Gwaine. His stupidity in this moment is beyond word. He let Morgana knew where Arthur was and get hinself killed. I love you Gwaine but holy shit JUST STAY HOME. QUARANTINE YOURSELF.
My friend and I binged Every Year After. We read the book together years ago and do my remember the details at all.
But based on the show, is it bad that I thought Sam's track of thought, breaking up because he's prioritizing education is not bad? I would've too honestly.
That being said I mean I understand his reasoning not his action. He's so indecisive. Getting together then breaking up too suddenly whenever it suits him. Like the hell, who gave you the right?
And I know in the book Percy cheated but in the show she didn't?? I don't understand why any of them were so worked up over that honestly, I don't think it's that big of a deal. Sam was an asshole I'm sorry.
I remember not liking both Sam and Percy in the book but I kinda like Percy in the show so there's that.
It sometimes bother me, or at least make me role my eyes when I see in fanfic or any media portrayed a character, mostly the women, as the "perfect angel that can do no wrong" and always the rational and voice of of reason in the situation. Idk why, it just feel like you're grinding the characters into 1D version of them when in the original media they might be more than that.

Gwen and Merlin's friendship are literally the cutest thing ever and I hate that it slowly dissapeared π. Gwen sleeping in Merlin's room after her dad died, Merlin generally being her biggest hype girl, comforting her about Arthur all the time, Gwen just being down to do any shenanigans with Merlin, no question asked. Them laughing and gossiping together. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH PLEASE BRING THEM BACK TO ME.

Sorry, blackthorns as a concept are so gothic. What do you mean there are a bunch of orphaned kids with dark hair, pale skin, and creepy/mesmerizing blue eyes? What do you mean the oldest is constantly drugging his uncle to keep him sane? What do you mean the uncle is a raving lunatic hidden in the attic who befriends vampires and is weirdly obsessed with the ancient history/myths his family is named after? What do you mean the only Blackthorns who donβt have startlingly dark hair are half faerie, smelling of the wild woods, with horrible knowledge, and ears like knives? What do you mean theyβve looked the same for the last 200 years? What do you mean a villain is trying to hunt them for their blood? What do you mean they listen to the raging sea on stormy nights? What do you mean they wake up every day to see their brother wearing the face of the father he killed?

'They'd do anything for their lover'- Meh. Boring and overused. Implies romantic love is the most important thing and usually, leads to a plot that is very recycled.
'They'd do anything for their sibling'- Fascinating. Not as popular. Usually has more variety. Automatically brings into the picture one's relationship with other family members, and each other's significant others or the lack thereof. Is usually more complex. Does not take away from the importance of a romantic partner. Shows the power of friendship/ family. Perfect. Give me more.
Just when I though I started to fall in love with syntax (after 2 years of enemies to lovers slow burn) it went and fuck me up again.
I love love love Gwaine but in the last episode I was BEGGING AND SCREAMING for him to stay his ass down in Camelot instead of going after Morgana like an idiot because then maybe Arthur wouldn't die or at least HE wouldn't die π.

no like lancelot was so completely and utterly Merlin's Knight that it's almost embarrassing. this is the guy who spent his WHOLE LIFE since his village was destroyed wanting to be a knight of camelot. a man who values honor. trustworthiness. chivalry. he's the bravest and most noble of them all. and then he meets merlin and two seconds later he's like "Alright i'll go along with your identity theft plan" finds out merlin has magic in the Illegal Magic Kingdom where Magic Is Illegal and doesn't even think of turning merlin in at ALL even though it would probably drastically improve uther's view of him. just goes Okie dokie this is awesome love this for youππ doesn't even fucking BLINK.
and then later he finally does manage to become a knight of camelot, for realsies, no takebacks, kneels on the ground before arthur and swear his allegiance to both him and camelot's laws as a whole, the whole shebang. And then he immediately starts whispering with merlin like two teenagers at a sleepover about what merlin's REALLY going to do and instantly offers his assistance unprompted. "That's why I need to find a way to get to the Cup without Arthur knowing." "Leave that to me." and then the next morning he lies straight to arthur's face about going to take out the warning bell. the FIRST THING he EVER DID as a KNIGHT OF CAMELOT was LIE TO ARTHUR'S FACE so he could AID A SORCERER. TREASON. for MERLIN.
he didn't have to do that! he just could've been like "oh i'll distract arthur so you can go after the cup" NONE OF THAT he was like Obviously i'm going to lie for you. Obviously i'm coming with you. Obviously if there's a veil to the spirit world and i made a vow to gwen that i'd keep arthur safe but merlin got hit by the dorocha i'm going to immediately abandon my vow in order to look after merlin. Obviously if merlin is healed by water spirits and the vow is Back On but then the moment of truth happens and arthur is actually already safe and sound because merlin knocked him out then that means i'm going to die so merlin specifically doesn't have to. Obviously i'm going to sacrifice myself for him. Obviously i'm not going to just run into the veil but instead turn around to take one last long look at him and smile before i and walk, arms spread, to my death, so i'd remember who i was dying for and why it was worth it. OBVIOUSLY.
