The Sims 4 Kudô Residence
description & download file under the cut ☆彡
My main goal has always been to keep this as authentic as possible. Due to game restrictions and inconsistencies in the source material though, I had to change up a ton of things.
Differences from the original house:
Shin'ichi’s original room is slightly smaller (about 1 cell) than his simulation room, and the drawer changed its position from between desk and bed (original) to between bed and shelves (mine), because the room would otherwise not be playable.
Kitchen/dining area: Oh boy. There are 2 official versions of this: the manga/anime one and the visual guidebook floor plan. Fun thing is, even the actual illustration of it in the guidebook shows a completely different layout than the floor plan in the same guidebook. So I had to pick one and slightly alter it to resemble the other one, too. This way, the kitchen/dining room is playable with the original floor plan, as well as giving you the feeling of being in the manga/anime itself. The guidebook version includes a kitchen with counters in a corner of the room, and a proper dining table with chairs around it in the centre. The anime version is what you saw when Masumi and Ran met Subaru in the Kudô residence. Here, the kitchen only consists of counters in the corner and an island counter with 4 chairs. Now what I did was take the mini kitchen from the manga/anime, and adding the dining table and other furniture from the visual guidebook in the lower half of the room. Little detail I picked up from that chapter though: The flowers on the windowsills. ♥
bathrooms: Oh boy #2. There are six designated bathrooms on the visual guidebook floor plan, but we only ever get to see one in the anime/manga, with Subaru brushing his teeth in it. Now, you can see other characters walk up to this exact bathroom, but- judging by the floor plan, there is NO WAY that this room is as big as it seems in the anime/manga. So instead, I made a smarter use of it as a dressing room that leads to a bathtub (common layout in Japan), and put the bathroom we see in this particular chapter upstairs. It still exists, but it had to switch positions. Sorry for that, but it just wasn’t possible.
genkan: There’s 2 versions of the genkan in the manga/anime; one in the early chapters, with a drawer to the left side (after entering), and one in the later chapters, without anything at all. I did put the drawer there because a genkan is a place to store your shoes/clothes so why the hell did they remove the drawer at all.
music room: We’ve seen this room before, but have no idea where it is, so I just put it somewhere it fit nicely.
Yûsaku’s/Yukiko’s bedroom: They have got to have a bedroom somewhere, right? I picked one of the large rooms on 2F and designed the interior myself since there are no references for it.
There were also rooms that were completely empty in the layout, and have not been visited by any character in the series yet - so I had to make up what’s inside. For your understanding, I did not put rooms where I wanted. The floor plan in my lot is the original floor plan of the residence, but some rooms’ purposes just aren’t known yet, so I made them up.
washitsu: Japanese-style room, 1F
butsudan: Buddhist home shrine, 1F. This one is interesting. The room in which I placed the butsudan in my simulation has a black rectangle drawn into it in the visual guidebook floor plan. Now, that rectangle looks a lot like the one representing the genkan, so I figured it must be something special. Unfortunately, I don’t have the guidebook myself and the scans I have only show the plan, but not a description. I figured that in a Japanese home, in a room so very very small, the only thing that would make sense is a butsudan. Contrary to tokonoma, which are just part of a larger washitsu, butsudan often have their own little room. I don’t know a lot about butsudan and kamidana though; maybe it might be a kamidana instead? I think butsudan are more common in family homes though. Anyway, there’s no butsudan ingame so I just put up a symmetrical display that seemed dignified and beautiful, with flowers and a picture frame.
meeting room for Yûsaku’s work as an author (big thanks to yukitsukihana for the idea!), 1F
empty rooms, 1F/2F. I imagined these to be household rooms or idk, but your idea might differ - so I left it empty for you to decorate yourself. Some people suggested a second guest room. That would work just as well. Just do with them whatever you like~!
lighting: There were only a few scenes in which we saw the actual lamps used in the house, and I sim’d those (hallway, kitchen, some other rooms). For all the other rooms, I chose the same kind of lamps or lamps that I thought would fit nicely.
I tried to avoid it, but there were some things I just had to mod; this concerns mainly the library, butsudan & washitsu, but also some minor decorations. You can care less about the those (you monster. they’re cute), but in order for the library (!!!), washitsu & butsudan to work, you need to install their custom content before placing the lot.
Kanto living set by Angela: [tatami] [floorlamp] [loveseat] [paintings] - Needed for the washitsu & the butsudan, don’t skip these
bookcase by plasticbox: [single-tile intellect bookcase] - Needed for the library, don’t skip this
Double Delight backless by plasticbox: [bathtub] - Optional. Concerns a bathroom on 2F, you can put any other bathtub you like there, but this one looks best imo.
genkan shelf by Madhox: [shelf] - Optional, it makes the shoes in the genkan look much more tidy.
ivy by mutske: [Ivy Door 16] [Ivy Outside Corner 09] [Ivy Outside Corner 10] [Ivy Vertical 21] [Ivy Vertical 20] - I could’ve downloaded more of these to make it look nicer, maybe you’ll want to do that. The original house does not have ivy. - Optional
cute plants by soloriya: [plant 1] [plant 2] - Optional
curtain by AdonisPlut: [curtain set] - Optional
kitchen cabinet by MadHox: [kitchen set] - Optional
As for the optional files, the lot will work without them. Just put whatever strikes your fancy in the empty corners~

install above mods by downloading them and putting their files directly in your Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods folder
be careful to create max. 1 subfolder. Subfolderception will make the mods unusable.
extract it all in your Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Tray/ folder
be careful not to create a subfolder. it needs to go directly in /Tray/
I’d be super happy if anyone shared their Sims’ stories with me using the Kudô family with this lot. Have fun!!
