Ok we have a look at the map of Paradox. There's 5 islands. 4 connected together and the 5th being a stormy dark castle in the center of these 4 islands.
Gret is tagging along lol! Ruby is so happy to have this stranger but didn't trust Sir Alwin 🙄 oki doki/silly. I mean, Gret kinda stole their cart, but he seems harmless enough.
YAY MRS. CAT IS BACK! AND MISTER WIZARD CONTACTED HER BY THIS BLOCKY 1950S LOOKING PHONE WITH AN ANTENNA 😭! OFC THE OTHERS ARE BAFFLED BY THIS THING BEC PHONES DON'T EXIST IN THIS TIME PERIOD! MR. Ok they continue on the trail I suppose, they pause when they see giant tracks of some beast. Gret thinks it's a minotaur of some sort. Something is coming towards them so they grab Mister Wizard's ladder and climb up the cliffside to hide. Bro Dude, the man who dies the most, stays out in the open, my good god.

Ruby uses psychic connection for herself, Max and Bro to talk. Mister Wizard uses his phone to connect 😭 Ruby tells Mister Wizard to sit and look pretty lol. Max immediately screams at Bro psychically that he's an idiot lol.
Gret is a vibe. How much Xanax is he on 😭 he does not care at all abt the beasts.
There goes Bro thinking the beasts may be nice. The first one sprints over to try and gore him 😭 and so a fight ensues!!! Mister Wizard just yelled at Bro Dude alerting the beasts to their location 😭
MAX DECIDES TO JUMP OFF THE CLIFF AND SLAM THE BEAST ON THE HEAD WITH HIS MACE! BUT HE ROLES AN 8 SO HE TRIPS OFF THE LEDGE AND THE MACE GOES FLYING! BOTH MAX AND THE MACE HIT THE GROUND HARD! AND MAX SPOOKED THE HORSE AND THE DONKEY, BOTH BOLTING AWAY! MAX YOU LOSER BOY 😭😭😭😭
They beat the beasts, collect their animals, Mister Wizard falls asleep and Max is being Max. (Grian has confirmed the more comfortable Max gets with the group, the more pompous he acts. Like he's more comfortable being annoying and dramatic. But Grian has also said Max definitely needs humbling). Max's mace's name is Ego 😭
Since Mister Wizard is asleep, Ruby pick pockets him lol. And Max is robbing the Minotaur. What Ruby grabs from Mister Wizard is a wooden box with a ceramic bottom that holds a living worm with a head on each side of it's body. MISTER WIZARD SAYS IT'S NAME IS WILLIAM THE GREAT IN HIS DREAMS 😭 SOMEHOW THE WORM IS CONNECTED TO HIS BACKSTORY?!?!?
Max ponders over why Gret was suspiciously very calm. Oh no, and the camp they come upon is familiar to Max. It reminds him of the Circus of Wonders, his old circus. Max hops down from the cart and runs his hands over the fabric of a tent, getting lost in memories. Max has apparently been away from the circus for abt a year or two.
The circus cared for Max but they also tried to push a lot of their beliefs onto him.
Max roles a nat 20 on investigation. It is the Circus of Wonder. Max tries to disguise himself so he isn't recognized. His outfit is the same, but in blue 💀 and he pulls his hair back into a bun. And he uses makeup to cover his Goliath marks. Ruby helps with the makeup. (Max has a mark on his neck that looks like a four leaf clover. Tucking that away for my au). Bro Dude compliments Max on his hair.
Max tells the group he doesn't want to talk about it much but he has history with this place. THEY'RE ALL SURPRISED BEC HE'S SO SHIT AT BACKFLIPS LMFAO. Awww, poor Max, Grian says he's unnaturally somber and serious, not really bantering back with the teasing and ignoring Mistet Wizard when he asks Max if he likes peanuts.
Bro Dude grows worried and asks Max if he's in danger, but Max reassures him he's not. They take their cart through stalls selling food to find a quiet place to park. Max gets a little excited about the food. Max explains that the circus isn't your typical circus. This circus pushes the bounds of magic, and it's a place of experimentation. They experiment with magic in ways Max doesn't want to mention. But one of those experiments ig is combining 3 birds into one meat, 3 bird, and he wants to show his friends it. Mister Wizard, ofc, immediately agrees.
Max immediately orders some, but the man at the stall is suspicious of how Max knows of the food. He doesn't recognize this man, and he's not from around these parts. Max makes up a lie on the spot, saying his friend told him of it, and he is excited to try it. He is so eager for them to try it 😭🩷. He has them guess which 3 birds it is. It's Turkey, Duck, and Chicken. Is it blasphemy if Max eats duck?
Langely Ridgemont, the Ringmaster. Max knows her. Max has only seen her a few times, and it's like being sent to the Headmaster. Max considers it bad news if she doesn't know what's going on here. Ruby and Bro want to go talk to her. Max immediately says he will just spy. The others take notice, but Max just says he's fine. He spots her and directs his friends to her. (Taller the hat, the more important the person -Max). Max says Langely is the smartest person he's ever met.
Max goes to hide while the other 3 go talk to Langely. Max rolled a shit stealth check, he got a 12, Langley got not 20, so she spots him.
Langley isn't speaking too nicely to Max. She asks him how long he'll stay before he abandons them agai. He tells her he did not abandon them, he was forced to leave by his own brain. Oh, Max is just an asset to her. Ruby stands up for him, but Langely cuts her off. She calls the group Max's "latest adoptive family" and says there have been many in the past.
Time is broken, and so is the law of physics. That's what Langely tells them.
Max gives up the charade, so he takes off the makeup and takes out his hair.
The one ruling the land is The Lich, sending words of undead after people. (Maybe Raven Queen? Unsure, Raven Queen and Oberon are unheard of as of rn). Ok the Lich is a man ig, Pix used he/him.
Max uses the fact he has the toe of one of the Minotaurs as proof that they have the skill to go after the Lich.
Oh damn, Max asks Langley if his Mum and Dad are with the Circus, and apparently they parted company a while ago. Poor Max :( BUT MAX'S OLDER MENTOR IS HERE! RUFUS :D Max perks up at meeting Rufus. He forces his friend to come along to meet him.
They find a younger guy, Devon, where they go to find Rufus. He says he has heard of Max, not very many good things. Devon seems to be Max's replacement. Oooo Max seems to feel some shame about his blood heritage. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME! RUFUS IS DEAD! THERE'S A PORTRAIT OF HIM WITH CANDLES AROUND IT! FUCK YOU LANGELY FOR MAKING US THINK HE WAS ALIVE! 1084-1192, Rufus Merryweather. Rip King. OH RUFUS WAS A FATHER FIGURE TO MAX 😭 FUCK YOU LANGELY FUCK YOU
Ooo, Max grew up in the circus. He feels like a product of it and felt Rufus was the only one who saw him as a person and not an experiment. Max salutes the painting and tries to pull off a double backflip (he did good :)). Max just wishes he could talk to him one last time and that his friends could have met him. (Rufus also apparently made 3 chicken lol).
They leave the tent, and in the distance, they hear the sounds of a fight and panic. The Lich's minions are here! The beasts are a Bone Naga (Grian describes it as giant bone basilisk), skeletons, and Whites (?).
The party prepares for a fight, and Max is quite calm, stating that if Langely is fighting, then this battle will be fun.
Mister Wizard had been slashed across the chest! And Langely gets bitten by the Naga! Of course, the team cares more about Mister Wizard 🤣 Bro Dude swings with his axe, but roles too low to land a good hit on the Naga.
Max uses Channel Divinity and Turn Undead to control the Naga and skeletons to save Langely. The Naga and Skeletons become confused and run around in a panic. The singular skeleton outside his control range 😭 it shoots Max in the shoulder with an arrow.
This is like the 1st time Mister Wizard has taken some big damage, and he is pissed. So he fires magic missile. (Look at my Wizard man we're all gonna die 😭)
Mister Wizard is down! For once, it isn't Bro Dude! Langely obliterates a skeleton! Gret is fucking fighting 😭😭😭 ! Gret rolled a nat 1. He is useless on the field. Max takes down a White!!! There's just a Bone Naga left! Mistwr Wizard has to do a death saving throw! 1st role, 5, failure. 2 more roles left for Wizzy. Bro Dude has a healing kit to help stabilize Mister Wizard. Langely goes after the Bone Naga, Ruby and Max follow after her.
Finally, the Bone Naga is down, and they go to help Wizzy. Max looks for something in the bones of the beast to nab. Langely comes over and congratulates him, saying she owes him her life. She also tells him she'll give him info on the Lich. Max steals the eyes of the Bone Naga. Bro Dude is speaking with Gret abt his amazing axe work.
Max goes over to heal Mister Wizard since no one is healing him 😭 so Max uses Cure Wounds on Mister Wizard.
Lich: Always powerful magic wielders. They willingly choose something to store their soul in so they can be immortal. If your body is destroyed or decays, then you can make a new body because your soul is elsewhere. This Lich has several things containing parts of his soul. And Langely may have found one, which is why they're being attacked so much. She gives Max an orb, it shimmers like a pearl but has some liquid and an eye inside it.
Max asks if they can just smash it, and that destroy it. Langely tries to explain it's not possible, Max does it anyway. It bounces harmlessly away. Max retrieves it and pockets it. She also offers hospitality and supplies. She also has people see if there's some handy tools for the group.
The thought is kill the Lich, and the world goes back to normal.
Max also questions Langely about Ruffus. Ruffus passed away from old age. She says she wishes he was here. She thinks he would have found everything quite amusing. Max says he wishes he heard his one-liner (i will light him on fire). Langely reassures him she heard Max loud enough that Ruffus likely did as well, wherever his soul may be. She then tells Max off for calling her Langers.

The Gigs group decides they should go to the snowy island and face Bro Dude's backstory.
Bro is definitely going to train Gret.
Max is graffiti'ing Mister Wizard's cart to call it the BlunderBuss for sure.
I am very excited for when we get around to more Mister Wizard and Ruby backstory
