The most annoying part of watching Gunther wrestle Cody is that it would be so fucking easy for them to have a good match. He's done this formula with perhaps hundreds of babyfaces by now, and it's also the most basic wrestling structure ever. Cody gets in some shine early, look at our dashing boy, then he's cut down, Gunther dominates and treats him like shit, Cody gets to sell for ten minutes with occasional hope spots which get cut down again. Then the finish. The end.
Walter has done this to every manlet on the indies and Gunther has done this with great success to every lucha in the fed, to Punk, to Chad Gable, to the fucking Miz. Yet every time I see Cody and Gunther wrestle it's this back and forth of counters and Cody is looking way too strong and it pisses me off. Just lay down and take it for a bit? Know your fucking place, b***f***.
