"Go," Jazz shooed her roommate, "we see each other every day, and it's been weeks since you last saw him. Go."
The club's lights rhythmically danced over her roommate's face as they sheepishly set their drink down and gathered their things, "Thanks, Jazz. I owe you a night out."
Batfam would be so alarmed. Dick got roofed and kidnapped.
Just Jazz explaining to Dick:
âHey. My nameâs Jazz. I saw someone slip something in your drink but didnât manage to get to you to warn you before you drank it. Youâre currently on my couch in my roommate and myâs apartment. Do you want to call someone to pick you up? Or let them know that youâre okay at least?â
âYeah, let me call one of my brothers. How did you notice? From the sounds of it, you were across the club or something.â
âYeah, pretty much,â she said before turning sheepish. âI had clocked you out of the corner of my eye and mistook you for my little brother for a split second less than a minute prior so you were still on my radar when it happened.â
Which. As an elder brother himself, he completely understands. But a Bat doesnât survive as long as he has without developing some paranoia. Maybe having Cass along would be useful.
Cass arrived at the flat quickly following the conversation with the woman who claimed to have reached Dick. Her brother had been struggling to speak coherently and Cass was concerned.
She was let in without issue. From Jazz's body language Cass only read concern. And relief that someone had arrived to help. Good. Hopefully she really was just a good samaritan.
Jazz: Hey. He's on the couch with a bucket and a pint of water. If you want to wait here to wait for him to sober up a bit that's fine. Or I can help you get him to your car.
She was being entirely honest which made Cass feel much better about this.
Cass: Hmm. Waiting a bit would be good. How did you see it?
Jazz flushed and looked a little embarrassed. Interesting.
Jazz: He looks really like my little brother. So I was paying attention. And then I saw them slip powder in his drink. So I had to step in you know?
Cass smiled softly a Jazz. She w was genuinely just doing the right thing.
Cass: Well. We owe you then. Thank you. For saving my brother.
Jazz: No! No debts owed. I just did the right thing!
Cass grinned and wandered over to her brother. Jazz was a nice woman. Very attractive. And seemed maybe a little attracted to her? Maybe she could get a date?
Cass: Hmm. Let me at you coffee? In a few days. When Dick is better.
Jazz flushed a fetching shade of pink. It really made her freckles and eyes stand out.
Jazz: Sure. Um. Here's my card. It has my number and email. So th can text me!
Dick: Cass! Cass! Yer flirtin? M sick, n yer flirtin!?!
Cass laughed as her brother, even in this state became a nuisance.
Cass: Jazz is pretty. And she saved my brother. Your knight deserves a reward yes?
Jazz flushed even more and made a little embarrassed sound.
Cass: Cute!
Jazz: You're gonna kill me. Stop it! You're cute! I'm all... Y'know.
Cass: Tall, strong, good, kind? Pretty? Fun to tease?
And best of all: hasn't recognised them.
When they get back to the manor Dick was packed off to the medbay to be tested and Bruce pulls Cass aside.
Bruce: What happened?
Cass: Dick was roofied. Jazz Fenton was not able to intervene in time. Took him to her place for safety. Got him to call for help. Kept him on the sofa with water and a bucket. Genuine. Did not recognise us as Waynes.
Bruce:... She didn't?
Cass: From Illinois. Here for college. Probably not caught up in celeb news. Or doesn't care for it.
Bruce: She was just in the right place at the right time?
Cass: Yes. Caring woman. Has a younger brother, who apparently resembles Dick. Hence her watching him. She never lied. She is cute. I am taking her on a date to pay her back.
Bruce:.... Date? Why a date?
Cass: She's cute. And I want to.
Their date is going to be stalked by so many siblings. Danny and Ellie turned up to stalk them. Dikc, Tim and Steph are stalking Cass. Jazz and Cass clock their respective idiots and sigh. Notice the other doing the same and laugh.
Jazz: Yours too?
Caas: Hmm. Eldest, middle brother and not legally a sister!
Jazz: Danny and Ellie both turned up. Dan is still on parole. So he can't leave Illinois.
Cass: Ah. Well, the second and youngest two didn't bother?
Jazz: You have so many siblings! It's bad enough with four of us! Danny and Ellie are chaotic enough for several each though...
Cass: All of mine are the same. We should run and hide?
Jazz: Hmm. Set them on each other?
Cass:... I like it. Yes.
