DPxDC Fanfic Idea: Lore Drop
Danny travels through time and across the universe a lot. Mostly because he has an agreement with Clockwork and the Observants that if he does so they'll give him heads up if he's about to experience something that might drive him crazy, but also because he just likes to travel and visit alien civilizations.
As a result of his travels, he ends up learning a lot of cool things. Cool things that he doesn't realize are super big deals because he is learning them when they very much aren't. Stuff like various cultural rights and traditions of Krypton, how to construct Martian bio-ships, the origins of Themyscira... To him, they are just neat little tidbits, like people mentioning how Otters have favorite rocks. To the Justice League, and particularly to those from nearly dead species and cultures, everything he randomly drops lore on is a much bigger deal.
Danny sees the gun to access the Phantom Zone
"Oh, hey, I was wondering where I left my portal gun!"
*uses it and looks inside*
"Why are there a bunch of criminals in my toy universe?"
Funny moment for a potential Demon Twins fic that I'll never write
Danny and co: *being chased by an unfortunately slightly competent GIW*
Danny, in human form: "Fuck it, I've killed before" *aims for lethal shots*
Sam and Tucker: "You've WHAT before!?!?"
the car was silent
Of course, there were the usual sounds: the motor, the wind, and sometimes the odd sounds from outside the car.
But everything else?
Silent.
the type of silence that wasn’t peaceful but the calm before the storm, the one that grew heavier the longer it lasted, until you could barely take it anymore.
and Danny?
Danny could barely take it anymore. But he knew that if he broke the silence, the questions his friends would ask could be just as bad as the silence.
Danny knew that he couldn't hide his past forever. Especially now, while they were on the run.
“Soooo” Tucker's voice cut through the silence. “youre going to explain?”
fuck
Danny couldn't do this
“you don't want to know”
fuck, danny. you stupid, fucking idiot. Why did you say that so flatly? Now you're even more suspicious.
“Danny, explain.” sam’s voice was cold
which meant that she was about to explode from anger
fuck
danny had to do this,
he sighed and turned his head to look out the window
“danny we ha-”
“dont” danny cut tucker off “i - i want to tell you”
and wasn't that shitty
because he truly did want to tell them
He turned his head to make eye contact with Tucker through the mirror, then with Sam who was right next to him.
“i just- just need a moment.”
And the car was once again enveloped in an uncomfortable silence
but this time, it was worse
because how was Danny supposed to explain this? how could Danny explain to his friends that his past was- well like THAT
he sighed wearily
“i dont know where to start.” he stated, admitted more like.
“I don't know danny,” sam’s still cold voice said ”maybe at the start of the story or maybe WHY? or WHEN?”
‘start of the story’
‘why’
‘when’
Danny could work with that.
he took a deep breath and let it out in a long exhale
“You guys know that the Fentons adopted me, right? ” he asked
“yea?” ”what?” both answers came simultaneously
Sam looked at him weirdly. “The Fenton’s adopted you?”
danny laughed a little
“Damn,” Tucker said, grinning ”I always forget that you came to Amity park after Danny. ”
“Yeah, I was adopted, it was kind of a big deal back then and I always forget that not everybody knows.” danny answered sam
“you should have seen him back then, he was such a feral little shit, tried to stab everyooo-” tuckers joyful tone trailed off as realisation hit
”danny”
"Yeah, Tucker?"
“what happened before you came to amity park?”
Danny laughed a humourless laugh. He didn't answer.
Sam looked at him with wide eyes.
because the answer was obvious by now, wasn’t it?
Amity park was a small town surrounded by other small towns.
If Danny killed someone in Amity park or any neighboring town there would have been at least a missing person report.
There was only one person that went missing while Danny was in amity.
and she came back home a week later.
which meant that Danny killed someone before he came to live in amity.
when he was a child.
“what-” sam’s voice wavered ”what happened?”
“dude you dont have to ans-”
“shit sorry you dont have to answer that im so sorr-”
Danny smiled softly at his friends jumbled words
“Well, long story short, I was raised in a cult.”
a beat of silence
“an international assassin cult, actually.”
the car abruptly stopped
right in the middle of the street
Well… at least they're on a random street in bumfuck nowhere, so there aren't any other cars.
Tucker turned around in his seat to look at him, wide eyes and Sam's mouth was moving, but no noise came out.
Well done, Danny. At least you said something.
Danny was broken.
He didn't really know what the cause of his brokenness was, just that he clearly and obviously was. Even before he died, he couldn't see color.
Unlike Jazz, whose soulmates began with their parents and continued to appear into her life and then stay in her life, Danny appeared to be soulmateless if it weren't for the fact that he still couldn't see color. Jazz, and everyone else in Amity, had the full rainbow and then some available to her before she even made it to middle school.
Jazz's soulmates were an easy and short list. Mom, Dad, her friend Kyle Weston, and her friend Spike. She had met Kyle in kindergarten, and Spike in third grade. All of her soulmates were platonic and familial, though there was still a chance that she was seeing darker shades of colors than they're supposed to be - it was more common than not for a romantic soulmate to brighten up the world that someone could already see.
Danny was in high school. And all he saw was grey, grey, and more grey. Occasionally, he could even tell that he was looking at black. It was unusual. He was broken. What else was he supposed to understand from that?
"Maybe your soulmates are somewhere else? Like, your soulmates are all French or something," Tucker suggested, offhand.
"Maybe," Danny pretended to agree. Frankly, though, he wasn't holding out hope.
He was already dead, after all.
If someone's soulmate passed, they just lost the ability to see whatever colors their soulmate had given them. Danny doubted that him being dead before meeting his soulmates would affect that specific phenomenon in any meaningful way. He would just never know.
So why the hell could he suddenly see this- this- this beautiful color after meeting some dude? He didn't seem to have noticed the change of colors, rushing off with a bright apology for running into Danny, as Danny's whole world flipped on its side. He- he had no clue how to find that person again. What was he supposed to do now?
Maybe... maybe start with googling what this color is.
Blue. Blue was the color of the sky, of oceans, of brightly colored birds and butterflies. It was so beautiful. Danny's eyes were blue! Danny decided just then that blue was his favorite color.
Who knew he'd finally find a soulmate after moving to Gotham? Maybe, just maybe, he'd find his other soulmates here too.
He shook his head; Danny knew better than to hope. Danny was dead. He can't have soulmates, now. Even if Danny could now see colors- or, well, one color, that didn't mean whoever was connected to him could also see their missing color(s). So even if Danny was connected to them, they... probably weren't connected to him.
...
"Sorry, Jay, I got held up at wor-" Dick trailed off, looking at his little brother's eyes.
They weren't that green before. He knows they weren't; after meeting Damian, Dick could see green. They could all see green after meeting Damian. Jason and Damian's eyes were both an olive green, only a slight shade difference between them, everyone in the family agreed. Not... not this neon bright green.
Jason's gaze snapped to Dick from where he'd been glaring at someone across the diner, and the brightness dulled. It didn't go away, but calmed down. No longer seemed like it was lighting Jason's face up. "What?"
"I..." Dick paused, mind racing. If Jason didn't know why Dick was staring at him, then nothing new has happened on his end. That means... "I think I ran into another soulmate."
More !!! ,We need more !!! ,Please !!!, Don't leave us like this !!, We want more !!,
"Do you know who you maybe ran into? Or, like, have a description?" Tim asked, twisting the Bat-chair back and forth with a deadpan expression, "I can't really do much without a description, you know."
"Well, no," Dick admitted, before gesturing aimlessly, "I figured you could probably just look at security cameras or something until you found someone that acts differently after I interact with them."
Tim sighed, looking burdened with the entire world, before doing a quick 180 to face the Bat-computer. "Do you, at the very least, have a time frame?"
"Uh... I mean," Dick shrugged, "I hadn't seen either Jason or Damian since two weeks ago, so..."
Tim's head hung down, before muttering something under his breath and pulling the Bat-keyboard closer to himself. "Gimme, like, three days or something. I'll skim through the footage I can find, see if I can find them."
"You're the best, baby bird!" Dick wrapped his arms around Tim's shoulders, Bat-chair included in the hug.
"Yeah, yeah," Tim grumbled, ignoring the hug from his older brother/soulmate.
It took less than a day for Tim to decide that he needed a break - because, man, Dick interacted with a lot of people every day. He could rule out most of the people that're working at stores and cafes and restaurants that Dick frequently visited, unless they were new at the job - luckily, not many new workers at those locations in the past month. There were quite a few people who reacted strangely after meeting Dick, but it was clear that they were simply reacting to having talked to an attractive person - gross. And really, he could probably ignore the people Dick talked to at his job, too. It's not like there were any new students or new parents in Dick's classes.
"Ah, thanks," Tim offhandedly said, meeting blue eyes of the person who'd held the door for him.
"No problem," the teen was distracted by something on his phone, so Tim didn't bother him much longer.
Really, there were too many candidates for Dick's new soulmate, and it was just a massive pain to try to figure it out.
...
Danny shot off his last reply to the group chat from his friends back in Amity, glad that Val had managed to catch Boxy before Danny's parents or the government did. Sam had volunteered to put Boxy back through the portal, and Tuck was currently sending Danny's parents on a wild goose chase around the city. It was...
Well, it wasn't exactly a good alternative to Danny being there, but like... at least they had it under control, from what he could tell.
Putting his phone away, Danny looked up to admire the blues and- and- he had another color. What was that color? Wait, when did he meet his soulmate?? Did he actually meet someone today?? The only person he'd interacted with was a barista and he probably held the door open for some people, but. But. But anyone he actually noticed didn't seem to change his vision any?
He whipped his phone back out, googling for that website that provides color names for the newly soulbound for the second time this week. His hands were shaky and- and weren't grey? But it was a dull version of that color so they weren't exactly that color- yellow. He... he must be missing a color or two, to be able to know what color his skin is. But... yellow was the color of sunlight? And, and it was the color of sunflowers, and bees, and ducks, and cheese - yellow was so- so cool!
What else was yellow? And... and how did yellow and blue interact with each other?
"Psst. Hey. Hey, butler guy. Is this Bruce Wayne guy, like, enslaving you?"
Alfred Pennyworth has experienced many things at the infamous Wayne Gala's. He's found front page affairs in the bathroom, watched Master Dick swing from the million-dollar chandelier, and personally pulled out a shotgun at the Joker.
He has not, in fact, had one of the suspiciously young looking busser ask him if he's a captive to his employer and pseudo-son.
New opportunities every day, Alfred supposes.
"I believe you will have to elaborate, young man." He replied, crisply. It wasn't the most peculiar thing he had been asked, not even this month, but it certainly got his attention.
"You know. The thread between you and him. If he's holding you hostage or something, I can help you." The boy— yes, now that the man had gotten a closer inspection, it was certainly more child than man— gestured vaguely to something only they could see.
It took a moment to surmise his meaning, before Alfred's eyes narrowed.
Alfred was, although unnoticeable to the mortal eye, magical. He had been raised such, learned from gentle corrections and yellowed tomes of spells. When he had raised Bruce, still small and irate at the world, he had formed what one would call a bond. It bound himself to the boy, strengthening over the years, until he couldn't hide its existence like the others without concentration.
An untrained mind could easily mistake a cord into a chain. Heroic of the lad to ask, if unplaced and a touch dangerous.
"I am quite alright." He assured after a moment, and the relief that panned across the boy's face made him reevaluate his appearance. Short, skinnier than Alfred would prefer, and twitchy eyes and hair that had not been cut, leaving it stringy, hung over eyes too bright of blue to be normal. "Are you, lad?"
He looked uncared for in the way that raised the hairs on the older man's neck. A light probing for the busboy's tethers— whether to family, guardians or something else— came back with naught. His frown deepened.
It was imperative that children, until their brains fully developed and abilities settled, had something to anchor their magic. Families and organizations were remarkably protective of their young; for good reason: untended minors were easy pickings for cults and even more ill intents.
"Me?" His laugh did not strike as genuine when it came out. "Mister, I'm fine. I better get back to work though. Don't need them yelling at me, y'know?" A jerk of his thumb back towards the industrial kitchen areas beside the banquet hall.
"I understand, young man." Alfred did not in this situation; where were his guardians? "If I may— can I inquire your name?"
The boy's hand came to lift to the back of his neck. He did not need to be magical to read the mild anxiety radiating off of him.
"It's Daniel, er, Danny. Danny Nightingale." Was what the lad said, before pivoting and fleeing back to his work without another second.
Alfred supposed he had plenty of room if Master Bruce— doubtfully— wasn't fancying another addition to their ever-growing family.
Because as strange as Daniel was, there was something deeper at play.

Sleepy Summons
DP x DC Prompt
Danny has been the Ghost King for a couple of years now, and he's just trying to power through the almost endless amount of work that built up over the years after Pariah was sealed. He's been skipping out on sleep so he could have more free time, but it also leaves him to nearly grant everything he hears when he's summoned. He still has enough sense in him to not do any world conquering or other stuff like that in this state though.
He's got his fraid with him after they escaped their dimension, his parents had been working with the GIW and they barely made it out, Vlad is the only one they don't know the whereabouts of, as Danny sealed off their dimension to prevent any of his subjects from being captured and to stop the GIW and his parents from following. He doesn't want to drag his fraid into his Ghost King problems, as he already dragged them from a normal life.
When he emerged from another summoning in his big Naga form, he waits to hear the words that confirm he was summoned by cultists wanting him to destroy or conquer this world. When he does hear those words, he sends them all to Walkers prison. How ever, he is too tired to even return to his Keep, so he finds the nearest warmth to coil around and sleep for awhile.
However, the heat source for Danny to sleep around is the four heroes that were supposed to be offerings to him, and those heroes are: Robin, Red Robin, and both Superboys.
“Uhh Rob? Do you know what’s happening.”
“I think it- he is asleep?” RR responded back.
“He’s basking, seems even Nagas are reptiles.” Robin replied nonchalantly.
“Well the cultists are gone are we good to break out?” Jon asked.
“You haven’t removed your bonds yet?” Robin raised an eyebrow (in the way all the bats did behind their dominos). Jon looked around and saw that he was the only one still tied up despite the others not leaving the…snake nest?
“I don’t think we should move too much the being might not have fulfilled their demands but he did vanish them completely.”
“So 50/50 on them being on our side?” Kon joked.
“Are we sure he hasn’t like taken us as his?” Jon asked nervously eyeing the peacefully snoozing head.
“We were offered as payment, but he didn’t fulfill their request, supernatural beings are usually compelled to follow rules, it would be a violation of the agreement.” Robin added.
“I’m also not sure how…there the guy was?” RR muttered as he texted into his communicator. “What the guy looked completely checked out, he’s also already in REM and to fall so deep asleep so fast…it’s not voluntary.”
“Wow seems being exhausted to the point of collapse has for once benefited a situation.” Damian sneered.
“Don’t give him another excuse!” Kon threw his hands up. The giant naga shifted curling a little closer to the heroes.
“Let’s just hope our Dads show up with magical backup soon.” Jon grumbles.
“On their way, with Diana and Zatanna. Just to cover all our bases.”
Stowaway
When Danny left the vigilante life to become a paramedic in Gotham he didn't think he'd ever step back into that scene. Much less in this way, because now Danny has Robin riding along with him in the ambulance every shift he's on.
He didn't think Robin would even remember him after he had helped the kid take care of a hurt and sick kitten at the end of his shift. How wrong he was though because the next night Robin was suddenly in the ambulance saying that he would be shadowing Danny from this point forward. Danny's coworkers were also no help in getting the kid to not do this.
Robin called this an intern opportunity to learn more about medicine and how to treat people. Danny called it a HIPPA violation. What he thought doesn't seem to matter though as everyone is always just excited to talk to the kid. He ultimately decides to just let it go and be the unwilling mentor to the young vigilante.
It really isn't until Danny is being cornered after one of his shifts by Batman demanding to know what he's doing to Robin that he wished he had fought harder to convince Robin to not ride along.
There's no way Damian would show up to such a thing unprepared so imagine:
Danny's already running through the list of excuses reasons why he can't have Robin shadowing him. He's expecting some push back but he knows Robin will give up in the end. Robin does not in fact give up.
What actually happens is that Robin keeps throwing fully valid paperwork at each of his objections and refuting them like they're nothing. HIPAA violation? Robin pulls out a certificate that's several levels higher than what would be required for an actual intern. No medical training? Robin pulls out his recently earned credentials on different healing techniques (like CPR and EMT training and idk what else). He has more qualifications than people Danny has worked with before. Danny questions the validity, Robin has him check on the official (national? Gotham?) websites and he has in fact taken the trainings/tests required. There's even a log and videos so he couldn't have just hacked his way into the system.
Danny starts grasping at straws. He brings up child labor laws, Robin shows him a signed permission from Batman with all the requirements filled out perfectly. Danny says he's not comfortable with a minor seeing the level of gore they encounter in Gotham. Robin shows him a few pictures of the more gruesome cases he has participated in during his tenure. Danny talks about disturbed bedtimes and not wanting Robin's grades to drop, Robin shows him his full academic history (name redacted, of course) and his current schedule as a vigilante. Everything's official. Batman's signature is everywhere.
In a last ditch effort, Danny says there's no budget to pay Robin, Robin says that's why it's an unpaid internship and refuses to relent. By the time Danny's officially run out of excuses, Robin's looking at him like he's ready to learn from Danny specifically. His binder's still half full. Danny sighs. He knows when he's been beaten. (Of course he refuses to acknowledge that the actual last blow was when Robin offhandedly mentions his need to know everything he can on medical procedures while mobile just in case anyone in his family ever needs them while working on their more dangerous cases. Danny understands the need to protect family as much as possible. He would do anything to avoid a repeat on the nasty burger incident. He can't deny Robin the chance to get what could possibly help save his family at some point)
Weeks later, when Batman shows up to question Danny about his activities with Robin, Danny stares at him unblinkingly for long enough that Batman almost starts to fidget (Danny's exhausted, ok? He needed the time to even process what Batman was saying). Then he finally just gets up, opens a drawer, pulls out an overstuffed binder and shoves it at Batman. It has a log of all the things Robin has done since he started his internship. It has an index. It's a copy of the official one already filed with the company Danny works for. Robin might be thorough but Danny has experience with OSHA violations and he's not about to compromise safety by cutting corners.
Batman's reluctantly impressed. Neither mention the fact that he clearly didn't sign any of the paperwork Danny saw.
AU where Danny is caught by the GIW and… well, goes full ghost. This is not based on any fic in particular.
Oh waiter! Waiter! More art of them cuddling, please! Yes, yes, with the xenonite barriers. I like my fluff with a pinch of angst.
WHAT AM I GOING TO DO ON A SPACESHIP??!?1!1???

DCXDP fanfic Idea: The Exchange Student.
Tim Drake is an exchange student at Casper High School. It's in the middle of nowhere, with a town small enough that everyone knows everyone, but you still have to travel a bit to get anywhere commercial. As someone from a big city with plenty to do for any given age, Tim hates it at first sight.
The sun is too bright. The people are far too into small talk. There is only one school district, one fast-food joint, and a pathetically small mall.
Really, it's no wonder that this was the only remaining slot for the national exchange program. No one wanted to give up Gotham for little Amity Park, but alas, Tim had been so caught up in a case that he had been late to turn in his paperwork. It's not like Tim could bail on it, too, as the program was a part of his deal with the school to make up credits for missing so much class. He didn't care one way or the other whether he graduated from high school, but Bruce made a big show of education and forced him into it.
I've had this sitting in my WiP folder for a while and I just don't think I'll ever finish so... up for adoption! Have this Price of Peace inspired prompt.

I can’t believe no one has done this yet. So….
Redemption Vald au, but before redeeming, called President Luther and somehow convinced him to make a secret law that it is illegal to adopt one Danny Fenton and one Danny Phantom, and then also somehow got Amanda Waller to make a task force for both identities and to give out restraining orders to the most problematic Adopters.
Vlad just didn't know how much this would be an asset this would be later on, or why there is a live stream of one of the task force members getting into a fist fight with Bruce Wayne.

Something else I see people keep forgetting: between humans and Eridians, we are the astronauts. And we are good at it.
Eridians' perception of the world relies on something that is completely absent in space — sound. They haven't been looking at the stars their entire existence the way we have. Their concept of aliens might only be as old as their discovery of astrophage. They made a bad ship, because it was their first one ever! Rocky himself says they rushed it, and that multiple (vital) things broke. Their mission was just as much of a Hail Mary pass as ours was — they had no idea what they were doing, if they could even travel in space safely. And, as it turns out, they couldn't.
Humans are the ones who have been doing it over multiple lifetimes. Mary is state of the art. We've been space farers longer than most humans have been alive. We can actually see through space. We are more likely to survive exposure to the void. We can encase our lighter, more flexible, more mobile bodies in a material that lets us walk outside of our ship, and, to a degree, we can get our bearings out there in a way Eridians just can't.
Eridians are not looking at Mary and thinking she's a bad ship. They are not thinking humans have no idea what we're doing. They are looking at this species that can walk in the stars, have been perfecting machines to take us to them for decades, have been dreaming about them and mapping them and naming them for millennia, and used all of that to save them, and thinking, wow.
