have you had a chance to see what belphie’s siblings have grown up to look like?
I'm so curious, but no, their adult appearance is a mystery!
his sister was rehomed as a teenage kitten, so I did get a peek at how she was growing up, and I found her fur coverage very frustrating.
for context, this was Belphie at the same age:
Can @raccoonmilf vouch for this? Super rad if true.
Yes it’s true

Tweet by "Give A Shit About Nature" @giveashitnature posted at 4:00PM 23 May 2026.
The tweet reads:
The USDA has kept raccoon rabies out of the central United States for over 30 years by air-dropping fish-flavored ravioli from helicopters. Each one is a small packet coated in fishmeal with an oral rabies vaccine inside. Raccoons, foxes, coyotes, and skunks find them by smell, bite through, and swallow. Many animals that consume the bait develop immunity, helping build a protective barrier across populations. The bait is generally considered safe for pets and tested in many non-target species. The USDA's Wildlife Services has been running this since 1995. Without the bait program, raccoon rabies very likely would have spread much further west. A federal program you've probably never heard of is protecting your pets and your kids by feeding wild animals ravioli from a helicopter.
The tweet is accompanied by two photographs. The photo on the left shows a lab-gloved hand holding out some examples of the fish-flavored ravioli – five pellets of the oral rabies vaccine, each a bit smaller than a human thumb. The photo on the right shows a raccoon, front paws holding something to its mouth, avidly munching on what is probably some delectable (at least to wildlife) rabies vaccine.

You're right but don't say it like that
Buffy the Vampire Slayer 1.02 — The Harvest
i've been phasing the phrase 'google it' out of my vocabulary and going back to 'look it up'. fuck you youve lost your generic trademark privileges
lie to me
A stalwart of British acting, with an incredibly varied talent, from the hilarious Hercules Shipwright in Cabin Pressure, to long suffering Giles in Buffy, even Frank N Furter in Rocky Horror on stage, Anthony Head, you shall be missed.
i understand that it's unreasonable to expect a band on world tour to play in every country in the world but i do think they should only be allowed to call it a world tour if they play in every continent. we need to make it embarrassing to say world tour and then not even step foot in africa

Such a developing story.
I love this story
This was a wild ride from start to finish
I know I say this a lot, But this is one of the best things on this website
Sophia is currently doing great in college, and I still get about one kid a month in the office who asked if this really happened.
I found it!! The original post!!
HAS SHE SEEN SINNERS
In Japan, some farmers raised ducks, fish, and azolla ferns together in one rice paddy. The ducks ate weeds and pests and stirred the water and soil, helping more oxygen reach the rice roots. The fish and ducks added nutrients through their waste, and the azolla fern spread across the surface and fixed nitrogen. This smart team-up was known as the Aigamo Method.
Takao Furuno is the farmer. From the wiki
After ten years of using organic farming practices, Furuno learned of a traditional Japanese rice farming method that consisted of using ducks to eliminate the weeds in rice fields, the "Aigamo Method." His first experiment was a success, but not without problems. In this system, ducklings are introduced into rice paddies for the purpose of (1) providing natural fertilizer, (2) to strengthen the rice seedlings by oxygenating the water from the turbulence caused by the ducklings' swimming actions, as well as (3) to weed and eat insects. One season, disease destroyed Furuno's entire crop. For three years, dogs ate his ducks until he installed electric fences. Then, Furuno had to ward off birds of prey, who would fly into the paddies for a quick meal.[4]
By continuous observation and research, however, Furuno was able to identify the optimal age at which ducklings should be released into rice fields (7 days), the number that should be introduced for every tenth of a hectare (15-30), and the moment when the ducklings should be removed from working in a paddy (8 weeks) so as not to eat the rice. Through experimentation, he discovered, too, that the addition of loaches (a type of freshwater fish) and the nitrogen-fixing weed Azolla to the fields boosted rice and duck growth, and simultaneously supplied nutrition for the ducks. Wires strung at intervals across the fields deterred the birds of prey.
By 1989, he had re-engineered the method into a sustainable, integrated organic rice and duck farming system that could be replicated.
KICK THE CAN!
Let’s play the biggest game of kick the can on the internet.
To kick the can, reblog it. I wanna see how long this can go on for.
the oldest reblogs for this post that i can find are from january 2nd of 2013. this can has been getting kicked around tumblr for almost 13½ years now
And yet somehow this is my first time kicking it!
The thing that really sucks about the North American housing market besides all of the lack of affordability everywhere that’s not the middle of an abandoned corn field is that there’s no in between options.
In most of the US and Canada there’s detached single family homes with a yard and there’s high rise to mid rise apartments. Very little in between.
Row houses, duplexes, large family sized apartments, etc. do exist but outside of a few locations they’re unusual or only seen as something that poor people live in.
Thing is though that there’s a market for these in between types of housing and they could really help with our density problems where cities are so spread out due to all the detached single family houses that it becomes expensive and environmentally problematic to get utilities to all of them.
I know that I would very much like a cute duplex or row house when I feel financially ready to have kids. Walking distance to a school and a bus stop, tiny yard for an herb garden and citrus tree but not so big that it’s a pain to maintain it, neighbors nearby, easy walking and biking access to the road, hopefully a playground nearby for my kids to use.
But that sort of thing doesn’t really exist where I live and doesn’t exist in a lot of North America. You either live in a small apartment or you live in a house and either way you’re probably forced to own a car.
Anyways our zoning laws in this part of the world are terrible and probably racist and I hate them.
there's not even, like, normal sized houses anymore. Just gigantic, ugly boxes in sprawling housing developments that don't even have sidewalks
