(snaps out of it) OH MY GOD WHAT HAVE I BEEN DOING!! HOLY JESUS CHRIST FUCK WHY DID NOBODY TRY TO STOP ME (eases back into it) ahhhh. yeah this feels right
i think the TLC network may have been one of the most evil stations in history, their only shows were like; watch fat and disabled people suffer compounding health issues, vouyeristically observe the habits and lives of the autistic and mentally ill, watch women in poverty be shipped overseas to marry neglectful and abusive american men in order to not die from poverty, and the reactionary evangelical cult family show
Pablo Aruaz, a Sandinista militant, known as “Molotov Man” prepares and lobs a petrol bomb at Somoza Regime forces.

i could blog better than this but i won't
They're saying messi spiked the water like maradona did we need to pack it up you are forbidden from watching football again this is ridiculous
england packs the game up with 30 minutes yet to play because they thought they had it in the bag and did not remember any other time that argentina is insane and WILL slip through a crack if it sees the chance. how is this surprising to you
The myth of saying the Malvinas are terra nullius is still dumb (it was not, it was administrered from Buenos Aires, the British deported the governor Luis Vernet when they took over, the gaucho Antonio Rivero resisted British occupation, people from the mainland were exploited as farmhands for the British for decades, this is all in historical record). It was a naked land grab, just one of many direct and indirect British interventions in South America.
But let's say the Malvinas were truly terra nullius and Argentine people never lived there (a lie). Why are you still defending a British military outpost off the coast of South America. The only reasons I can think you could is because you didn't know about the history of Argentina and about Britain's CONSTANT interventions in South America, of which the Malvinas are just the most visible part, or because you simply don't think it's a big deal.
But for real you have no idea how many anglos I met that really claim that the Malvinas was "terra nullius" and nobody lived there and nobody claimed them, the kelpers just manifested there with their sheep out of nowhere. They don't mention Luis Vernet, Gaucho Rivero and his resistance to occupation right in the first years of it, all the correspondence that acknowledges the Malvinas as part of Argentina that was occupied by the British (even correspondence where the British had to ask to operate in the South Atlantic before they usurped those territories), nothing, they don't even question it at all. It's just uh well if the British say they just appeared there who are we to question them? And also Argentines are just sooooooo blinded by nationalistic claims and who cares what third world countries do anyways, so I'll take the proper side here (the side of the British fucking Empire)
This is written in English apropósito.

I wish it were more common to have "bilingual" stories. By that i mean stories where it's important that 2 or more languages are spoken throughout. There isn't any translation, there's just multiple languages spoken by the characters. I understand why this is seldom done considering how heavily limiting it is to the number of people who can actually read or watch it. But idk I think the world would be better off with some stories like that.
Many of us live bilingual lives. What those lamguages are, what they mean to us, the historical and political state of those languages, are very very important! So at some point I think it would be nice to write something that is simultaneously English and spanish, and there would be a pretty sizable number of people who could read that.
A story like this would probably be impossible to translate into a third language though, for obvious reasons. Which i feel conflicted about, because I on one hand believe that all art should be in all languages and have as many accessibility options as possible. But I also think this specific type of story *needs* to be in those languages and removing one or swapping them would miss much of the point. Hrmmm...

Hey all! Normally when I post for Mona's community aid initiative, I post about the communities of refugees she is helping. But today I went to Instagram to update you all and saw that she hasn't posted since April, and we hadn't spoken since then either. She hadn't messaged me updates like she normally does. I was very afraid. It turned out she had broken her phone during a displacement, and she hasn't been able to replace it due to the high costs. Mobile phones are a scarce and expensive resource in Ghazzah but they are a lifeline for the families there. And for Mona it is not just a lifeline for her family but also for the refugee community she has dedicated the last few years of her life serving. She cannot connect with her usual network of volunteers or access funds without her phone (she had to contact me through her mother's phone). Despite helping displaced refugees, her and her family are also displaced refugees also living out of a tent, and she cannot currently afford a replacement. Please please please help her get a new one so she can continue doing the life-saving work she has been doing. Chuffed link to support Mona.
Every single dollar counts!!
