I'm honestly tired of being accused of things I didn't say or mean. I'm not saying I'm the one who decides who is or isn't a "real woman." No one person gets to decide that for everyone.

What I meant was specifically about the character. Saying a character was intended to be trans or that fans interpret them as trans is different from saying they're canonically trans. Unless it's confirmed in the official story, it's still a headcanon or behind-the-scenes intention, not established canon.

As for real people, I respect how people identify themselves. If someone tells me they're a woman, I call them a woman. If someone doesn't identify that way, I respect that too. My comment wasn't about deciding anyone's identity it was only about the difference between fan interpretation, creator intent, and official canon.

What's especially frustrating is that instead of asking what I meant, some people have followed my account just to continue this argument and even reblogged one of my posts to publicly label me as transphobic. I don't think that encourages honest discussion: it just turns a disagreement into a personal attack.

I just checked one of my oldest posts (from before I disabled comments) and found... that.

Apparently, in the grand total of four sentences,

I was accused of being on the devil's side

told I was basically asking to be harassed and that it'd be my own fault

called me transphobic because I don't personally treat an out-of-show statement as the same thing as in-show canon

apparently unlocked the magical ability to determine people's gender through posts alone

Used term I won’t repeat here

called me immature

accused of spreading anti-LGBTQ+ propaganda

told to delete my account

and I finally got informed in a very family-friendly way that I'm « acting like a baby » because I'm supposedly wrong.

Four. Sentences.

That's honestly kind of impressive. If we're handing out awards for speedrunning bad-faith assumptions and personal attacks, I think we have a new world record.

If you think a character needs “justification” to be seen as cis but doesn’t need “justification” to be seen as trans, you might just be cisphobic.

If you think a character needs “justification” to be seen as transmasc but doesn’t need “justification” to be seen as transfem, you might just be transandrophobic.

If you think a character needs “justification” to be seen as transfem but doesn’t need “justification” to be seen as transmasc, you might just be transmisogynistic.

If you think a character needs “justification” to be seen as nonbinary but doesn’t need “justification” to be seen as binary, you might just be enbyphobic.

If you think a character needs “justification” to be seen as intersex but doesn’t need “justification” to be seen as dyadic, you might just be intersexist.

1. Pressuring someone into apologizing when they hadn't clearly done anything wrong. From the conversation shown, the person wasn't denying anyone's identity, they were discussing a possible interpretation. After being told they were wrong, they apologized and retracted their position, even though their original comment wasn't necessarily unreasonable.

2. Treating disagreement as bad faith. Instead of addressing what the person actually said, they were accused of posting "bait." …. That just accusing people of malicious intent without evidence discourages honest discussion.

3. Punishing clarification instead of encouraging it. Even after the person apologized for having their own opinions and explained their intent, the response wasn't "Thanks for clarifying." or « Glad you understand » It became « You should delete the post » like you should now delete it for having respectfully a different opinion. Wow.

That creates an environment where people feel pressured to retract or apologize simply to avoid backlash.

People should be able to discuss interpretations, ask questions, and clarify their views without being pressured into apologizing for opinions that were presented in good faith
