So let me get this straight, you support banning and harassing anyone who enjoys a ship you dislike or (god forbid) writes or draws anything that offends your sensibilities, yet simultaneously you are supposed to be pro literary freedom and against the suppression of artistic voices, no matter what and whose those may be?

An interesting thing about antis I've noticed. . .
They call out proshippers for shipping "illegal ships". Most of these antis are into anime but also ship LGBTQIA+ ships, which while not fully illegal in Japan it is still extremely taboo there. Meaning that in the umbrella of "proshipping" LGBTQIA+ ships from anime are also illegal.
Just something I wanted to bring up
I think that's partly because a lot of antis are from Western countries (typically the US — there's a reason why they've earned the nickname "American Feelings Yakuza"), so their view of laws are very central to their own country. But antis don't actually care about what's legal and what's not.
Child marriage? Legal in 33 US states. Antis do not care about this, because the child being exploited and abused is not fictional.
Writing porn of fake children? Also legal, though antis like to pretend it's not. Antis do care about this, because it's "icky" and they can't deal with being uncomfortable with harmless things.
Antis don't care about what's legal or illegal in their own countries, let alone other countries. They believe what they want to, no matter how ridiculous. They're all "be gay, do crime 😜" until it comes to fictional content they don't like, then they're licking the shoes of pigs and jumping out of their seats to tell you that what you like is "illegal" and that you should be brutally murdered in prison.
Anyway, legality does not equal morality.
And remember folks, if you're going to make a callout or beware post about someone, DONT PUT ALL OF THE FICTIONAL BULLSHIT THEY LIKE. Please. Just focus on the actual problem. Im so tired

When you’re talking to someone about your abuser and they start to sound a little bit too empathetic towards them:
Did you know that AO3 allows fics with homicide in them? There’s a whole tag for Major Character Death and even more tags so you can find exactly what kind of character death you want to read.
Don’t they know that murder is illegal? You just know there are a bunch of homicidal maniacs out there who love to read those stories. They write them, too, in between killing people.
Anyone can read the stories on AO3! Kids can read them! They’re getting exposed to stabbing, poisoning, even guns! And they’re writing the heroes doing the killing, too! That’s basically telling kids it’s okay to go out and murder their families. It’s promoting violence and encouraging homicide and if we don’t do something about it soon, you’ll be murdered next!

Like I'm sorry but if you want to call yourself profic, you have to (YES YOU FUCKING HAVE TO!) get used to people still liking Harry Potter, Rurouni Kenshin, One Piece, Alfred's Playhouse, Walten Files, Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel, Five Nights at Freddy's, or any other thing made by a genuine piece of shit.
It's one thing to point out that people should avoid giving money to these creators. I agree! Don't do that! But as long as they're consciously avoiding that, it's not fucking immoral for them to not want to leave those fandoms behind entirely. THEY ARE JUST AS MUCH COVERED UNDER "PRO-FICTION" AS ANYTHING ELSE.
If you can't handle that, then get out of the profic community and do not use our label.
Or you can just not be a fucking asshole to real people over fiction, which was the entire point of this post.
Reading comprehension here is at an all-time low and for Tumblr, that's impressive. This site's fucking incredible. Try reading past the first paragraph next time instead of shutting your brain off at "Harry Potter". But it's extremely telling that none of you, NONE OF YOU, had anything to say about why FNAF is unacceptable to enjoy despite Scott Cawthon doing quite literally the same shit as Rowling. NONE OF YOU had anything to say about it being bad to like Rurouni Kenshin despite the author being charged with possession of CSEM. NONE OF YOU had anything to say about the creator of The Walten Files using his posterity and popularity to levy false abuse allegations against an innocent person. NONE OF YOU had anything to say about the inclusion of ALFRED'S FUCKING PLAYHOUSE on this list, despite Emily Youcis being an actual, self-proclaimed Nazi.
If one of these things is unacceptable to enjoy (even when ensuring no monetary gain on the part of the creator), then you need to nut up and admit that it applies to all of them. And yet the only one that got any kind of reactionary response was Harry Potter.
The severity of these issues is irrelevant; none of them are things you'd want to support the creators doing. Yet only one seems to matter to the "Well, I'm profiction, except for..." crowd.
So to the frustration of many of you I'm sure, I'm doubling down on the statement that anyone who takes issue with this post is not pro-fiction, no matter how staunchly they claim otherwise. The stupid behavior shown on this post by people co-opting a term that is not meant for them would never be accepted or tolerated in profic spaces. No matter how justified you think you might be in this case, you WILL get warned and/or banned from any space that isn't run by fancops.
Appeal to authority or what have you, yadda yadda, but that's more of a consolation to the rest of us than an argument. AO3 won't tolerate it, Aethy will treat you the same as any fancop and ban you outright, and no fan community on Dreamwidth is putting up with you, either.
