i’ve been thinking a lot about the interview with easterman’s va, carlo mestroni, and overall, it was so wonderful to hear his perspective about easterman and the character’s psyche. he mentions how easterman has an ocd-like approach to his beliefs, and it really got me thinking about his trauma and desire for control.

i think it’s fair to say easterman has cptsd from his childhood trauma regarding his abuse, and maybe from stanley’s passing as well. as someone who does have cptsd, ocd-like tendencies are not abnormal. there can absolutely be overlap with the two, and the way easterman digs his nails into the reins he holds at sinyala is defintely a good case of this. it’s very much “i need to do this, so they believe me. i need to do this, so x y or z doesn’t happen”.

mind you, this isn’t even getting into the blatant forms of self-harm and intrusive thoughts easterman journals about, which can also be connected to cptsd and ocd. it’s a form of self-flagellation, just as it is a way to stay in control of your situation. he can control the pain he inflicts, he can control the pills he swallows. when it comes to trauma related to mothers, the victim craves something to coddle, to nurse and love as a surrogate for the love they didn’t receive. he’s actively trying to do this with reagents with the hopes of betterment, when it’s really just projection and that need for control. those cycles are so hard to break, when they’re all you have left.

One should be able to acknowledge that Easterman is a man of his time and reaping significant rewards from the patriarchy in the most evil ways possible, and acknowledge his misogynistic almost religious idolization of women as being godly and ‘innocent’ where any woman who deviates from that narrative or goes against his word since( he sees himself as god-like so godly women should listen to him) are deemed a whore or a bitch and how this is a key point to his character and how he treats the reagents

No man is going to question another man exercising power the system gives him if it elevates both of them, and any woman who questions him is discredited as being vindictive or insane because they are a woman. Easterman is quite literally left to soak in the mentality that he is untouchable because nobody he deems of value has questioned him, and because he has had this mentality forever he believes he can get away with anything without side effect

its crazy that megan thee stallion is not considered a queer artist by some people. the woman is not shy about the fact that she finds women attractive and likes having sex with them. she references it pretty frequently in her music, she made a whole song about enjoying having threesomes with a woman and a man, she made a Jennifer's Body-themed music video, she had Victoria Monét full riding her thigh on stage at a coachella, and there's literally a video of a lesbian interviewing glorilla at a party & asking who she would date if she was queer and her immediate response is "megan. megan like girls!" and then megan turns around and immediately starts flirting with the interviewer. i don't know what more you want. that woman is Bi Sexual and we should all be thankful every day for that. bi women are still bi when they wanna fuck men too you know. the fucking of men is also done bisexually.
