Would it be too oddly specific to ask what each of the Nublar Six’s favourite London Underground line would be if they spent enough time in London to use it often. Sorry that just came to me
the camp fam’s favourite london underground line
full tube map so you all know what the fuck i’m on about XD
so fucking enamoured by how well and intricately designed it all is. the poor ticket guard the first time he sees it has to answer 857463 questions before he gets told to just tap his goddamn oyster card and get to where he’s going 🤣
likes the Picadilly line, purely because it has the quickest access to the Natural History Museum (with a bunch of dinosaur skeletons)
probably has most of the Picadilly route memorised XD
has beef w the Victoria line cos he got lost down there and nearly cried once (this WAS me lmfao)
has a detailed internal ranking based on practicality, proximity to usual places, and personal experiences. he has an excel spreadsheet. in the Victoria line x personal experiences cell, he just put three middle finger emojis and in all caps “SHIT”
second best at navigating the tube in general, the one who usually plans their journeys
the only one out of all of them who reliably knows where she’s going
likes the Suffragette, the Lioness, and the Windrush lines. she thinks they’re very important
like all of them, loves Waterloo and City purely because of the ABBA song (except Darius, who is not a die-hard ABBA fan *side eye*)
bullied Kenji /t for not being able to handle the noise of the Picadilly at first
gets up at 5am to take aesthetic pictures and videos. she’s in LOVE with the Vibe of the London Underground
loves King’s Cross St Pancras station
Northern. i feel this one in my bones. she likes that it can get her far to the edges of the city where there is fewer people
also on most tube maps the Northern line is black, which is her favourite colour
likes the Met/Circle/District line cos she can walk up and down the whole thing as a balance exercise (if the tube is empty enough)
likes the super obscure overground lines with Ben. the busier the stop the more she hates
fucking hates Thameslink. they’ve fucked her over one too many times
overall she prefers a nice, scenic train ride through the countryside to the tube lines, but admires their usefulness
thinks Bakerloo is just such a fun name, even though it’s pretty old and shit. “it’s charm!!!”
also loves the historical charm of the Victoria line
thinks the little overlap with the District and Circle, and then the Metropolitan and Circle and Hammersmith and City lines are adorable. her favourite part of any journey on those lines is Paddington to Edgeware Road cos all four of those lines all overlap, including the head and tail of the Circle line
feels similarly about the Met/H&C/Circle crossover later down the line
loves the tube lines that have animal-themed names (Blackhorse Road, Canary Wharf, Elephant and Castle, etc)
Circle, cos it’s the easiest to follow and he probably grew up getting driven around everywhere and never set foot on a tube until he was like, sixteen, so he had absolutely no clue where he was going the first time and got horrendously lost
likes the Circle and Picadilly cos he doesn’t have to get on 1938475 different tubes to get where he’s going (and he tends to stick to the centre of London anyway. lmao rich boy /t)
has done the Circle line pub crawl w Darius and Dave once. that was a fun night out XD
thinks the old ones are dingy and nasty (he’s not wrong lmao) so he tries to avoid them
whichever is the most wheelchair accessible is probably his favourite :’) (the Elizabeth line)
he could ride the Circle line in circles for AGES
however he does not like the Circle one bit. he thinks it just copies all the other good stops and it goes FUCKING NOWHERE. he and Kenji have got into fights about this
also likes the obscure overground lines. believes there is more overground than underground to the “London Underground” (yes, that is always in quotation marks)
terrified of taking the tube for... various reasons (wrote a fanfic explaining)
still avoids the Picadilly line like the plague to this day. she Will Find Another Way to get to where she’s going
feels by far safest on overground trains
won’t touch super crowded trains either cos she gets claustrophobic
has her route to school ingrained in her, even years later
she’s taken the tube so much in her life she has a reason to hate all of them. has had the least amount of time to hate the Elizabeth line, plus that one generally has decent lifts, so she likes that one
genuinely has no strong opinions but has secondary dislike (via Roxie) of the Picadilly
also admires how well designed it is
amateur at taking the tube but not before getting lost 23847564378 times and ending up miles away from where he needed to go
loves whichever lines have stations with goofy names, i mean, what the hell is Mudchute??? hornchurch??????
giggled for three hours at “Cockfosters” and all the sexual sounding ones
pronounced King’s Cross St Pancras “St Pancreas” for AGES before Roxie took pity and explained he was very wrong XD (dw Dave i grew up here and made the same mistake lmao)
very fascinated-slash-overwhelmed when her small-town self first properly experiences the London Underground
can’t really pick a favourite. she is one of those rare people that actually thinks taking the tube is fun and exciting (same girl) cos she never used to do it when she was younger, and when she went to uni in Oxford, often commuting to London, she loved the tubes
if she haaaaad to pick a favourite though it’s probably the District cos it gets her straight from one end of London to the other, which she thinks is cool as shit, and it has the most stops, so she really feels like she’s Seen London
or the DLR. idk why that one
