i wish people in general enjoyed combing through their reasoning and ideals periodically. i mean i understand why they don't, it can be super uncomfortable to admit you were wrong, especially if it was in public. but if you get in the habit of it, it kinda feels to me like when you've been poring over a super complicated math problem for ages and FINALLY found the spot where you wrote 1 instead of -1, and the whole thing snaps into focus. like ha! there's the bugger! get the fuck out of here you! extremely extremely satisfying to make your brain make sense again.

i think the most recent result of this was a few months back when i was talking with international friends about ethics, and i tripped and fell flat on my face over my ingrained USian individualism. like damn, what the fuck, i thought i kicked you out years ago! so now whenever it pops up again i can just point and laugh at it in my brain. bro really thought he could pass as a value that's coherent and consistent with the rest of my worldview, what a dumbass.
