The turtles human forms look like Splinters mother, rather than Splinter.

I've seen a lot of the turtles' human forms looking like Splinter's clones, and I love it! It makes sense too, because they already look a lot like him as turtles.

But I've noticed that Splinter starts to resemble someone else post-mutation, instead of himself. His grandfather.

So I had the thought, what if the turtles also had some else they look like as humans vs as mutants.

Namely, Splinter's Mother.

In the show, their eyes don't look like Splinters did pre-mutation.

They look like his mothers, if a bit more round.

So maybe they have more features from her, in their human forms. The only one who got Splinter's eyebrows was Donnie, the rest of them have thinners ones. Their noses are smaller than his was as a human.

They have his smile, but his mother's mouth shape. Their chins are are still much less pointed than Splinter's ever was, but their jawlines are much softer, like hers was.

When they first put on cloaking brooches that that Sunita got them for Yule, Splinter almost has a heart attack. He had to leave them room entirely to process it.

He only really process it after an hour, when the turtles (still wearing the cloaking brooches) stumble in, wearing the matching color-coded unicorn onesies that were Draxum's gift to Leo.

They were all in different states of dishevelment, Mikey had paint on his cheek, Donnie's mask was singed, Raph had frosting on his hands, and Leo was covered in flour.

They all dragged him out into the kitchen, were a freshly cake was sitting on the counter, and a brightly colored banner was hanging. They took turns giving him their gifts and cards.

Mikey gave him a handmade teapot, to replace his. Raph gave him a handmade yukata, with something to represent each of them embroidered into it. Donnie gave him a giant Genius Built fish tank for his goldfish. Leo gave a world atlas, and said that anytime he wanted, he could portal them to visit his childhood home.

In that moment, he was able to push past the ghost of his mother dusted into his son's faces, and see instead the boys he raised. Their strength and love and little quirks.

He saw the family he'd built with them, and he wouldn't change it for the world.
