GENUINELY obsessed with "I'm not a girl or a boy. I'm a fucking soldier and you'll address me as one"
if there is one thing that tumblr has done to my texting it is the inclusion of arrows <- uses arrows basically anywhere <- loves arrows <- #myarrows
As far as artist signatures go, Jan van Kessel’s 17th-century painting of his name in caterpillars and snakes must be up there with the best. More on the unique work here: https://publicdomainreview.org/collection/jan-van-kessel-s-signature-of-caterpillars-and-snakes-1657

your world is dying. your husband presumably dies in space so now you're a widow and your world is still dying. then 50-ish years later your husband everyone assumed was dead pulls up in a random spaceship full of a highly volatile atmosphere with the solution to your impending apocalypse and none of the original crew from his mission and instead with a wet, blobby alien that he pack bonded with and almost died for and is now emotionally codependent on that now wont stop complaining about the temperature of the water in its enclosure. your name is adrian and you dont know how you got here
This is what posting your artwork after a mutual posts a big life update feels like

actually, the central romance of Music Man makes more sense if Harold Hill is wildly desirable, floats from town to town selling the Brooklyn Bridge on the strength of his charisma and how much everyone wants to fuck him.
mostly because that means when he shows up in river city and hears that Marian the Librarian seduced a secure and permanent position out of the elderly town miser, he would think: ah, another creature like me.
(not that “sadder and wiser girl” isn’t a phenomenal song on its own, but it takes on a different tenor if it’s game recognizing game rather than HH just refusing to go after nice, church-going girls.)
plus, leaning into that characterization would mean that marian is sadder and wiser, did in fact befriend (or seduce) specifically to have access to books and then later, to keep accessing them; she’s a con man too, just on a lesser scale due to lack of opportunity.
romance between two people who think of sex as largely a way of getting what you want, except that one of them likes to read, and the other can play the piano by ear.
also….who are we kidding when it comes to her ‘‘little brother’‘ Winthrop.
#let’s all be honest: marian and her mother left to “help out a cousin in Chicago” and then came back with a baby #marian only ever referred to this baby as her brother. mrs. paroo only ever called him her son. #but if you were the family doctor. or maybe someone who knows a little bit about gestational math and menopausal women. #you might have some follow up questions. #anyway stay tuned for other hot takes about this american musical from the 1960s.
“What’s the other thing I’m entitled to know?”
[Harold Hill gazes meaningfully at Marian, then looks back to Winthrop]
“Well, the other thing’s none of your business, come to think of it.”
learning languages is fun because in some areas youll be like "oh wow theres one word for this thing thats covered by 20 different words in english? thats so easy and convinient!" and then in other areas you'll be like "what the fuck do you mean you use different numbers depending on what kind of object youre counting. im going to kill myself."

Today I learned that the New York Public Library has what they call a “decoy” copy of James Joyce’s Ulysses. Before 1934, Ulysses was judged obscene and banned for sale in the United States. The “decoy” edition was published in 1930, and in an attempt to get around the censors, it was “bound in covers identifying it as the popular children’s book The Bobbsey Twins in the Country (1907).”
The spine is on the left and the actual title page of the book on the right.
A demon/monster hunting show that's just 90% about smartass rules lawyering. Can only be killed by a silver bullet? How about a bullet train, does a bullet train count as a bullet? How much of that thing has to be silver for it to count as a silve bullet? "Cannot be killed by any force on this Earth" well get fucking space launched, idiot. It all boils down to seeing what does and does not count. Far, far less "first few seasons of Supernatural" and a lot more Mythbusters. Or hell, perhaps with some "will it blend?" also thrown in.
At one point they manage to kill a monster that "cannot be killed by a weapon forged by man" by running it over with a Honda Civic. There's someone on the scene to play Watson for us, asking the details of how did they manage that. Was it because a car doesn't count as a weapon? No, it does count as one if you intend to use it as one. Is it because a car has obviously not been forged by a blacksmith like a sword would be? Nah, that actually doesn't count.
Why, then, was it the "man/human" thing? Did they somehow find a Honda Civic built in a factory that is entirely operated by an all-female crew? Nah, not that either. But they did find a lesbian auto shop that could take the original car apart, and replace all the parts with different ones. They wanted to see if they can ship of theseus this whole thing and if it still counts as the same car, and turns out that it doesn't.

Pulleyverse Fanweek June 2026 - Day 3
theater
based off this singular paragraph from my fic, "Rhapsody"
The idea of Gale trying to find their way backstage to the dressing rooms with a ridiculously extravagant bouquet of flowers in their arms sent January laughing into their side. In the past, he had witnessed partners and families do that exact thing, and his fellow dancers on the receiving end were teased endlessly by the rest of the company. After a show, he would have been fatigued, adrenaline-drunk, the roar of applause still ringing in his ears—but he had no doubt, in all the worlds, that Gale would have done the very same.
Day two! Posted at 10 til midnight!
Prompt today was "quickie" and I chose to wilfully ignore any. Ahem. Colloquial meanings, and instead imagine thaniel and Mori and six, hanging out in the evening. Six reads, Mori does God knows, and thaniel spends 3 minutes or less sketching what he sees. (Well. More like 10 minutes on the octopus.)
