Iβm reading this book about the changing arctic and the author stayed with the Nunamiut people of inland alaska for a while and talked to this high school kid who was like βugh I hate going to school in the spring I wish I was hunting caribouβ and I thought that was charming. you often hear about people who are devoted to preserving their traditional culture and knowledge but itβs rare to hear about someone whoβs invested in the old ways out of pure teenage selfishness. school is lame and hunting caribou is awesome

Wacom recently asked me to talk about why I make queer comics, and given there are multiple bills right now floating around in congress that are effectively "we will kill your livelihood if we get a sniff of queer" I had some pretty strong, simply feelings to relay.

Jackalopes are at risk of becoming extinct because during shedding season they have no natural defences against jaws that bite and claws that catch.
You don't have to worry about them killing it, they're actually endangered in England due to Victorian Era overhunting, so the British government's provided the National Park service with Vorpal Tranquilizer Darts so they can safely transport them to their native British Countryside where they can feast on borogroves and jubjub birds to their hearts' content.

Francesco Petrarca annotating "my most pleasant transalpine solitude" (Transalpina solitudo mea iocundissima) on the margins of a passage from the Naturalis Historia where Plinius mentions the river Sorgue, around Valcluse, where Petrarca had lived for many years.
Giovanni Boccaccio, 20 pages later, annotating "there weren't the ones from Certaldo yet" (Nondum certaldenses erant) under a passage where Plinius discusses the best kinds of onions, referencing his hometown of Certaldo, renowned for its onions.
