up until now i haven't really minded the stuff that bugs has chosen to cut out because it's been kinda minor things like qifrey teasing olly about the wine he requests, but i feel like cutting this out is kind of crazy 😭 it's not only an important character moment for qifrey because it shows him immediately willing to help euini get out of his current apprenticeship, it's doubly important for euini himself because it establishes his personality (or at least partially). it shows how he wants to believe there is a way that kukrow will be proud of him and finally show him some respect; in his mind, if he just passes this test, maybe he'll have earned that.
even outside of those two character moments though i think it's also important because it brings up the topic of how apprenticeships are formed: specifically, the idea that apprentices are ultimately the ones in charge of who they study under. euini in this moment doesn't want to change masters because he's placing all of the blame for kukrow's disdain for him on himself, not understanding that kukrow no matter what would probably still find something to be dissatisfied with in euini (and it's not euini's fault for not seeing this btw he's a child, but that's why qifrey's offer here is so important!!)
idk i mean otherwise this episode was really good and this cut isn't gonna ruin the show for me or anything like that i'm just. questioning the choice to take it out a little lol
