I'm talking aroace holland march who loves sex but isn't attracted by it. I'm talking high libido free-love holland march especially in his college days of spreading it around because love isn't real so why should you limit yourself, man? why should you hold back? having a soul-mate stops the love at one person. I'm talking a-spec holland march who married his wife bc of social/societal pressures and they had an understanding, and that line from the book that went like "the more he slept around on her, the more she seemed to love him" shows me a woman who knew who he was and accepted this about him, whether it hurt from a hetero/mono perspective or their partnership was never all the way allo, who knew he wasn't going to change because he could never understand a reason to. it's loveless holland march seeing Tally hit it off with his kid and going "yeah that's how an adult should act with my daughter, she needs to be in our life" without a second thought because he has to think pragmatically and not through the lens of attraction, only "pragmatic" for holland march is...all of that. it's holland march showing immediate disgust or contempt any time he sees a couple (or group) acting affectionate because he thinks they're faking it and just putting on a show, people aren't really like that.
