nonbinary liberation

as someone wholly outside of the gender binary, we are sick and tired of watching the trans community tear itself to shreds in so many ways while ignoring what is arguably the most vulnerable group of trans people we have: nonbinary folk.

inspired by blogs such as @thisisexorsexism, @this-is-intersexism, @whataboutenby and @nonbinarynow. i want to share my perspective as someone who is angry and tired of dealing with exorsexism on the day to day, including in online spaces that are meant to be safe for trans people.

there is also a lot of intersexism in the trans community and that is important to us, however as someone who is not intersex, we do not want to be the voice on their issues. we will reblog posts from about intersexism however, and if we make posts about intersexism ourself we will remember to specify that we are not speaking as intersex individuals and that we value imput from those who are actually intersex.

we also believe strongly in youth liberation so if you believe in "mdni" or shielding kids from gender or sexual topics whatsoever, we have no interest in you.

100% agree

im getting tired of how people binarize testosterone and estrogen, like "boy hormone" and "girl hormone". its not only harmful to nonbinary-spec but also binary trans folks who cant get on hrt due to health issues or just dont want to. i dont wanna say what i have in my pants but lets just say im not planning to get on hrt. i dont care which hormone is naturally more dominant in my body, although both testosterone and estrogen make me dyshoric i just try to look as androgynous as possible and im good. im fine with how i look. however some think im "just a cis man/woman invading trans spaces" because of that, which is ironic because i know enbies who are on E or T and they also get treated like trans women or men eggs. basically you get binarized no matter what

yet the same people wonder why both hormones make me dysphoric and call me "dumb" over it... well if i werent made to feel like my hormones are a binary i wouldnt feel so bad but idk

We're also someone with little interest in HRT (though, we believe our conflict would be there regardless of how HRT is framed) and we highly agree.

We really dislike the use of the terms feminizing and masculinizing when it comes to people speaking on the effects HRT can have on the body. Once again, reinforcing the idea that masculinity and femininity have to look a certain way, and that they're tied to sex. Not only is it exorsexist, it is transphobic in general as well as being sexist and misogynistic. It's also intersexist as it ignores how many intersex folks regardless of gender receive HRT because of their sex variations not leading to them producing certain hormones and impacting them negatively. Them seeing the effects of that isn't feminizing or masculinizing either.

Estrogen is estrogenizing. Testosterone is androgenizing. Like gender, sex is a spectrum that does not belong in a binary, and we need to stop reinforcing otherwise.
