Pride Monsters Day 1: Trans and Nonbinary 💙🤍💗

Welcome to this year's Pride Month series! I'm sorry I've been away from posting for so long, but I'm back now with some brand new LGBTQIA+ art featuring my monster characters!

I've decided to organize my individual Pride posts this month by character identities, starting with my canon trans and non-binary characters, Mason the mummy, and Addison the reaper

I made the decision to feature trans and nonbinary characters first because there's been a lot of negativity around trans identities lately, and I want to say first and foremost that trans rights are human rights, and any and all gender identities are welcome in my community

Throughout all of history, gender has existed far beyond the binary. Third gender, two-spirit, and other gender non-conforming people have encapsulated the spirit of ‘nonbinary’ for millennia before the term existed!

Theme

Milford Pride invites local Connecticut transgender, non-binary, and gender nonconforming artists to submit work for display in their annual Milford Pride art show. The theme for the show once again this year is “Trans Joy,” artistic representations of the beauty of the trans experience. Despite the constant challenges and hate facing the trans community, we want to showcase the importance and power of joy, pride, and positivity.

Opening Reception – Friday March 20 6-8pm

Key Exhibit Items / Dates

Location: Firehouse Gallery, Walnut Beach, Milford-  for exhibit, opening reception, works intake and works pickup

Submissions Close: Friday, March 6th @midnight

Selection Notification:   3 – 5 Days following Submission Deadline, via email to the address on your submission form

Works Intake:  Tuesday March 17th and Wednesday March 18th 5pm – 7pm

Exhibit Installation:  Thursday March 19th

Opening Reception: Friday March 20th 6-8pm

Gallery Hours: Sat/Sun March 21st-22nd from 12-4pm  and  Fri March 27th from 6-9pm and Saturday March 28th from 12-4pm

Works Pick Up: Saturday, March 28 or March 29 (Tentative)

Eligibility

Work must be original with the artist’s own concept and design. 

Only two-dimensional work can be accepted.  The gallery cannot support three-dimensional pieces.
