Manifestation - Affirmations
Hello everyone! This is another short post to cover a simple topic under the umbrella term manifestation to hopefully shed some light on the topic.
Today we will be talking about affirmations. What are they, how are they used, do they work and what is the best way to use it?
The simplest way to explain what an affirmation is: a repeated word or phrase out loud or in your mind. Thatâs it really. It can be anything that you say (or think) repeatedly. This repetition can be in the same moment, or it can be something you think regularly over the days, weeks, months and years of your life. These affirmations when not used deliberately are often the expression of your own conscious and subconscious beliefs about yourself and the reality you live in.
An example of an affirmation could be something as simple as: âI suckâ and âI never winâ. You probably say (or think) these things because that is how you feel and that is what you believe. Now the beautiful thing about affirmations, is that you can consciously choose to change them, and with repetition, they become your new beliefs.Â
As it has been said many times before, a belief is simply a thought that you keep thinking. So if you change your thoughts, you can change your beliefs, and thus change your reality accordingly.Â
So do affirmations work? Absolutely. It may take some time, depending on your already existing beliefs and how persistent you are, but repeated often enough, an affirmation can change your existing beliefs and you will see evidence of it soon enough.
If you want to try it out, you can start small, say something like âI am always appreciatedâ 10 minutes every day for a few days and it wonât be long, less than a week probably, before someone in your life says something about how they appreciate you or something that you did, and/or you may start noticing people saying âThank youâ more often when they normally wouldnât in the same circumstances. As an example, a colleague that never says thank you for the work that you do suddenly says thank you for the same thing you have done 1000 times before without any appreciation from them.
So what are the best ways to use affirmations? Other than just repeatedly there are a few ways to use them:
In a drowsy state - This is when you affirm for your desire (either out loud or in your mind) while you are about to fall asleep or right after you wake up. This could also be in a hypnotic or self hypnotic state. When your conscious mind is relaxed, your subconscious mind will accept your affirmations more easily, thus speeding up the process.
Robotic Affirming - This is when you simply affirm repeatedly without emotion (like a robot) as much as you can throughout the day, again, either out loud or in your mind. With âenoughâ repetition (the amount may vary from person to person) your subconscious mind will âlearnâ your new affirmations, accept them as âfactâ, and your reality will change accordingly.
With Feeling - This is when you affirm while at the same time bringing forth the feeling of the wish fulfilled while affirming. Really bringing out the emotions of happiness, joy, satisfaction, whatever it may be to really give âweightâ to your affirmations. This is supposed to help your subconscious mind accept your affirmations as true. I donât know if that is true or not, but feeling good feels, well, good, so adding emotions to your affirmations when you are able to can feel very pleasant. Â
Recorded Affirmations - This is when you listen to a recording of affirmations, either some one elseâs (plenty on YouTube!) or you making a recording yourself of your affirmations that you then listen to on repeat.
Written Affirmations - So this would be akin to scripting, but simply, write down an affirmation, or a few of them, repeatedly. Doing it via some magical number of times â555Ⲡor â333Ⲡreally isnât necessary, only the act of repetition, and ideally, believing it, should make it work but even belief isnât necessary, only repetition. My favourite way of doing this in the past was to identify a single sentence that captured my desire and writing it down 15 times every day. An example of this could be âI am (your name) and I am (in a relationship with SP) or (working for - name of dream company -) or (a successful singer/writer/artist)âÂ
So which one is the best one? Whichever one works the best for you! Which ever method suits you and your life best. For some, robotic affirming can feel mentally exhausting and perhaps the drowsy method feels best, for others, robotic affirming feels the easiest. In essence, all ways of using affirmations should work as long as you persist with them.
The method I use is: All of the above! I donât really use scripting anymore but I have used it in the past and I have seen results from it. I have my own recorded affirmations that I sleep to every night and I also listen to them here and there during the day (when I commute or play video games sometimes). I also affirm throughout the day here and there, not always the same affirmations as my recorded ones, but a mixture of my recorded affirmations and affirmations to bring out the best qualities in myself as well (weight loss and confidence mostly). I do robotic affirming, and sometimes I really really feel the feelings when I affirm simply because it feels really good and does make it feel very real.Â
The more you use affirmations, the easier and more natural it becomes. The repetition will serve to change the way you think and perceive yourself and the world around you according to your affirmations, and your 3D reality will start to reflect your new beliefs to you. It is very common for people to hear someone else say their affirmations to them, in part or whole, this is one way you can see the effect that your affirmations are having on your reality.
So what are some key points and tips about affirmations?
1. Try to use present tense affirmations as much as possible that state that your desire is real and here right now. Donât affirm âI will have a new shiny blue carâ instead affirm âI am the owner of a new shiny blue carâ. I like affirmations such as âI love my new shiny blue carâ because when I do want to do affirmations with feeling, having the emotion in the affirmation is helpful to me (but you do you!)Â
2. âI amâ affirmations. Use âI amâ affirmations because saying âI amâ indicates that you are the thing you are affirming, that is you and that is your reality right here, right now. âI am beautifulâ âI am successfulâ  âI am a winnerâ âI am in the most wonderful relationshipâ âI am always treated like a priorityâ âI am a millionaireâ âI am so rich I can go wherever I want whenever I wantâ. Whatever it may be, you ARE that, thus âI amâ that, whatever you wish to be and whatever life you wish to experience, make it personal, because it is personal, it is you and your life.
3. Unless needed for whatever reason, try not to change your affirmations too much. Write down a list of affirmations that are as specific as possible to your desire and only change it if you are either feeling they are written wrong for your desired outcome, or, you find that you have changed your mind about your desire, either partially or completely. This is perfectly normal. When you start, you may start small because you donât feel capable of more, but as your confidence and belief grows, you often find yourself âallowingâ yourself to desire bigger and better things for yourself and thus ask for them.
4. Was covered in point 3 but, write down a list of affirmations that are as specific as possible to your desire. Some like to keep it short and sweet and use no more than 2-4 affirmations, which could be great especially if you are new to this. Me personally have a much longer list of affirmations because I am super-specific about the type of relationship I want to manifest so my affirmations cover all of the aspects of that. But again, do what feels right and what feels like would work best for you. You can always develop and change your methods along the way if you want to. There are no limitations.Â
5. Be careful what you wish for. If you go down this road of changing your assumptions, and you persist, you will get what you ask for. If you ask for a relationship, you will get a relationship, but if you also have negative beliefs about relationships, those beliefs will also manifest in your new relationship as well. If you believe that nothing ever works out for you, then that will also happen, no matter how many new partners you manifest as long as you have that belief.
Point 5 leads me to this very important final part of this post, and that is, you can manifest anything you want, your beliefs create your reality. And because of that, it is vital to know and understand what those beliefs are, and I would often recommend to tackle any negative beliefs and limiting beliefs that exist within you alongside (or before) using any method and technique to manifest first.Â
Doing them side by side is just fine, thatâs what I do. My affirmations include statements such as âI am always treated with love, kindness and respectâ and âI am the creator of my realityâ and âI always get what I wantâ to help tackle any negative assumption that may be present in the background that would prevent me from having the most loving experience with my SP.
