It's time to tame your ego like a little dog.
Ego is a normal part of the human experience. Itโs not some evil thing to destroy, but itโs useful to see ego as a mask a mask you can change, or even remove.
The Void: removing the mask from the soul
Shifting: choosing a new mask to experience
But of course, saying it is easy.
We live in a world that constantly forces us to attach to identities, to cling to labels. So for many people, shifting often includes a brief detachment from the โselfโ and thatโs a good sign.
Here are a few things Iโve already posted about that help loosen that โselfโ attachment before shifting since it's not what I'm gonna talk mainly today:
1) Holotropic breathing
2) Yoga Nidra / meditation
3) Void state
4) Self-hypnosis
5) Focusing on your DR identity or intention
Letโs define ego real quick.
Ego is the mental, emotional and social identity youโve built over time.
It's everything you think you are:
โI'm Aoaris.โ
โI have a Tumblr.โ
โMy body looks like this.โ
โIโve experienced XYZ so now Iโm like this.โ
But thatโs just a character.
A structure of thoughts and emotions.
Itโs not who you are, itโs a role.
The self is not fixed. Youโre not born with it.
You build it over time based on your culture, trauma, experiences, body, beliefs, etc.
Which also means: you can change it, reprogram it, or temporarily remove it.
So why does detaching from the ego help with shifting?
Well, because the self anchors you to this CR . It tells you:
โIโm here, Iโm this person, I feel this body.โ
I honestly think thatโs why some people need a very specific context or environment to shift,itโs to get out of that default self.
This also come back to the concept of self-concept.
When youโre still playing that โlittle meโ role, your brain keeps you on the same track.
Your subconscious sticks to your limiting beliefs (โI canโt shift,โ โIโm stuckโ).
Your body follows the same ego-based habits:
โIโm tired. Iโm stressed. Iโm gonna fall asleep. I need to.โ
Butโฆ what does it mean to โbe yourselfโ?
Itโs not your name. Itโs not your story.
Itโs not even your body or emotions.
To โbe youโ is to be consciousness itself, capable of experiencing anything.
When you shift consciously, you're not changing who you are, youโre choosing a new version of what you experience as you.
This ties into the Buddhist idea of anatta (no-self), or Neville Goddardโs I AM state.
Itโs not a fleeting mindset.
Itโs a way of embodying pure awareness a selfless, flexible consciousness.
Thatโs why meditation and visualization are powerful tools for shifting (even if theyโre not required).
Survey on people who shift on command
They donโt โmakeโ shifting happen.
But they help detach you from the ego and change the current mask.
When you meditate, you stop feeding the identity.
You calm the mental noise constantly reminding you of who you think you are in CR.
You soften your attachment to that version.
You move into a space of observation instead of identification.
Visualization = trying on a new role
It activates a version of you that's energetically aligned with your DR identity.
Your nervous system and subconscious canโt tell the difference, if you embody it, it starts to become real.
Something to try:
Next time you're going about your day or trying to shift, observe what self you're playing.
Are you playing the version of you that always fails?
Are you rehearsing that โI canโt shiftโ identity again?
Instead, open to possibility.
Open to playing a new version of yourself.
No judgment. Just softness. Curiosity.
Even if that version of you doesnโt shift yet, at least it's a different vibration. Maybe the version of you that is happy to shift again, or the version of you that open up with more curiousity.
For some a mental diet can be helpful.
Most ego habits live in the body too.
Thatโs why some techniques, like breathwork, void state, hypnosis, short-circuit the feedback loop and interrupt the autopilot.
A lot of people arenโt actually afraid of the void or silence or meditation.
Theyโre scared of what comes after.
