As someone who was hit badly by both versions as an intersex kid at the time, the idea that "tme" people who grew up in the 90s and 2000s would never understand what it's like to have their bodies treated with disgust for a joke is alarming to me because thinking back to those years without even thinking all that hard I can recall the "Pat" character from SNL where the joke was that a woman was dressed as an androgynous/masc presenting fat character and that was disgusting, the Daria skit from Robot Chicken, scenes of cis feminine characters in disguise being stripped in public to prove they aren't a man, and almost everything ever said about Chazz Bono before 2015. I remember my older brother having a kid twice his size punch him in the face for being transgender and then the kid not getting in trouble because "he couldn't help that it grossed him out". Kids making exaggerated gagging sounds and screaming and running away from cis girl classmates who got taller faster or had raspier voices or cut their hair into a pixie cut. And they weren't doing it because they thought those girls were trans girls, it was because they found it disgusting that an "AFAB" person would step outside the rigid boxes everyone was supposed to fit into. 4channers calling trans men "pooners" as an expression of disgust that someone with a vagina isn't appealing to their sexual preferences, something that's been happening since the very dawn of lolcow-type sites.

I really appreciate how, as far as I'm aware, all of hermitcraft has responded to fandom. They've let us know they're aware, sometimes they even joke about it, some people call it weird, some people play into it, but overall, I believe most of them have never set boundaries about it. It's not their space they don't step in. Scar will get donations asking about boundaries and he'll play dumb and talk about package shipping. They don't attempt to police people's creativity or treat their audience like hired fanwork creators.

I remember years ago, long enough ago that I was still using either Tiktok or Instagram regularly, because that's where I saw this, long enough ago that unfortunately I do not remember the username, I saw an older trans woman responding to a comment asking "how come we see trans women from your generation, but never trans men?" And her response was simple. "Unfortunately, it's because most of them are dead." Between lack of safe and legal abortions (which, hey, look what's an issue again), the HIV/AIDs crisis (which still is lacking in approved treatments for trans men, and they're still likely to be denied PrEP/PEP even when they should be eligible as sexually active queer men), and how many of them chose to take their own lives after being forced into marriages and other women's roles, a lot of the trans men that should be elderly right now did not make it.
