โSubvertingโ Catholic art? Oh, okay. I see, you think this has nothing to do with you. You log onto the internet and you post about how โWound of Christโ from Psalter and Prayer Book of Bonne de Luxembourg, attributed to Jean le Noir, c.1349, for instance, looks like a vulva because you're trying to tell the world that you enjoy Catholic art and imagery in an alternative, queer, risquรฉ way that challenges Christian beliefs. But what you don't know is that that stigma isnโt just a vulva. It's not just a mandorla. It's not just yonic. It's actually intentionally erotic. And you're also blithely unaware of the fact that around 1297, Saint Angela of Foligno experienced a vision of Christ himself, who called her to put her mouth to the wound in his side and lick the freshly flowing blood. And then I think it was Saint Catherine of Siena who drank blood and a clear liquid from the wound before receiving a ring made from Christโs foreskin? And then graphically erotic encounters with the side wound of Christ quickly showed up in the writings of eight different mystics. And then the yonic interpretation of the stigmata filtered down through the illuminated manuscripts and then trickled on down into some pseudo-intellectual corner of the internetโฆwhere you, no doubt, fished it out of some Pinterest board. However, that interpretation represents hundreds of years and countless visions of religious ecstasy. And it's sort of comical how you think that you've come up with an idea that exempts you from Christian theology when, in factโฆyou're posting an image that was sexualized for you by the very Medieval saints you think youโre so different thanโฆfrom โsubvertedโ Catholic art.
Put this picture in your pocket, next time you get into an argument with someone about 'useless' scientific studies, ask them "Do you think that we should give funding to study the mating habits of endangered iguanas in the Sonoran desert, or should we be funding cures for alzheimer's and diabetes?" and then when they say "Of course we should be using that money to fund cures!" you can whip out this picture and say "trick question, it's the same thing"
Transphobia is about to be signed into law in the UK. We can fight this.
I am begging the UK trans community and its allies to attend the Mass Lobby at Parliament on June 25th, 11am-4pm, organised by Trans Solidarity Alliance.
Last year we broke the record for an LGBT+ mass lobby of Parliament. Will you help us break it again? Join us on 25th June 2026 to demand be
The new EHRC Code of Practice pushes trans people out of toilets, hospital wards, and community spaces. It normalises gender policing based on appearance and stereotypes. It becomes statutory guidance in the UK by the end of June.
Trans people are now legally their assigned gender at birth and must join gendered spaces accordingly, but if they are perceived as their lived gender, they can also be ejected from those spaces. The guidance says: either break the law, or donโt pass too well.
A mass lobby is where you invite your MP to discuss your concerns with you in-person. Ask your MP to:
Demand full parliamentary scrutiny, debate, and use their free vote on the EHRC Code of Practice.
Support any motions rejecting the EHRC guidance. As of June 4th, Labour MP Nadia Whittome has submitted a prayer motion - Early Day Motion 240.
Write to Bridget Phillipson, the Minister for Women and Equalities about our concerns
Your MP does not have to be an ally, they do not have to respond to your email for you to show up and greencard them (details below the cut.) What matters is that as many people as possible show up.
I cannot stress this enough: Showing up in person matters. It is much more effective than petitions, emails, and letters.
It is a horrible, stressful time, and I am so sorry if you're trans and live in the UK. But I was at last year's mass lobby and the line for greencarding alone stretched around the back gates. It was a record breaking mass lobby and made us impossible to ignore. Let's do even better this time. Details under the cut:
Worried about what to say?
Bring your personal worries about transphobia being signed into law, and trans friends being excluded from public spaces. You are a living person who deserves dignity. Remind your MP of that. You will also get guidance and brochures from Trans Solidarity Alliance that outlines our demands. This is mine from last year.
Money issues?
Trans Solidarity Alliance provides a travel bursary that you can sign up for via the link.
Got a refusal or no response from your MP?ย
Come anyway! You can request a same-day appointment with your MP through a process called greencarding. They will come and see you if theyโre already in Parliament. Even if they donโt, theyโre made acutely aware of your cause because you showed up in person. This is my greencard from last year.
Here is the EHRC Code of Practice in full. It's a tough read, but some highlights are:
Organisations canโt provide trans-inclusive, single-sex services, or they risk being sued for discrimination.
e.g. domestic violence support for women including trans women, menโs rugby group including trans men (12.68).
Trans people will have nowhere safe to pee.
If youโre a trans man, businesses can't allow you to pee in the men's, and you can also be ejected from womenโs bathrooms if youโre perceived as a man. Vice versa for trans women. EHRC suggests a โthird spaceโ bathroom, which is discriminatory and unworkable for most businesses. (13.130-133)
Sports organisations must exclude trans people from single-sex competitions (13.73).ย
A womenโs only sports competition must exclude trans women because of their biological advantage or face potential lawsuits (13.74), but a trans man who has undergone testosterone treatment can also be excluded based on fairness rules (13.81).
Trans women are stripped of the legal definition of โlesbianโ, and therefore no longer have legal protections if theyโre discriminated against on the basis of sexual orientation. (2.50, 2.92).
Here is the Good Law Project's better explanation of the EHRC Code.
I have also made a PDF printout of QR codes for the government petition, email your MP tool, and mass lobby link to pass around your communities. DM me and I'll send it to you.

Flint is so funny because he's an example of anti-system leader who want the best for his fellow man.
But doesn't LIKE his fellow man. Or woman. He tries, but he really just can't help but feel annoyed by most of the people he is trying to lead against the system (or liberate from it) and feels slightly superior to most of them.
He settle on wanting to free his fellow man or woman from an evil Empire because he likes and respects England even less than he likes and respects his fellow man.
Which is valid btw but it's fun how he genuinely only likes and respects a max of five people in the whole show, and yet he still says things like "I can't believe we are so poorly made as that."
Yes you believe that in your daily life, that's why you can't open up with anyone and you canโt stop treating them as your politically, morally and intellectually inferiors!
I think it's fascinating that in abstract he believes in the inherent goodness of humanity and the idea that in a more equal and less corrupted society, people would not oppress each others for fun and history would be a journey though progress; in concrete he thinks that every person he interact with is dumber than him and need to be manipulated and convinced to do exactly what he thinks is the right thing to do, with very fews exception of two or three people he considers as smart and morally righteous as himself.
What a funny character.
The contraddiction of his character between his political/ideological optimism about humanity as a whole and his deep distrust and dislike of almost any individual he meets on a personal and intellectual level is so entrateining and very realistic.
@creekfiend was very kind in sharing some writing resources with me, and I thought I'd pass along the kindness by listing them down below.
N.K. Jemisin's article 'Describing characters of color in writing'
Mary Anne Mohanraj's article on approaching characters of colour
Renee Harleston's article How to 'Write Characters of Color Without Using Stereotypes'
Working with Colour, a resource site for writers
the book Writing the Other by by Nisi Shawl and Cynthia Ward, which had a description that cut deep, because I've definitely fallen into this trap out of fear:
and then a video recommended by @sheprd (thank you!) about pitfalls in descriptive language
if anyone else has more resources to add, feel free to reblog with them! this is something I want to learn more about.
I was talking yesterday about how I should probably change the skin colour of a character in a not-yet-written book, because that character is a large, aggressive dragon-shifter and I was worried about her being read with unintentional and offensive subtext.
I haven't gotten my hands on Writing the Other yet (it's still in the mail!) but from reading my way through these articles and watching the Princess Weekes video, I now understand that 'white-ifying' a character you're worried about is a lazy and cowardly solution. so, if I do ever finish the book Eres loses Everything, I'll keep her as is, do my best to be thoughtful, and hire a sensitivity reader to pick out any blind spots.
thank you to everyone who passed on resources, I really appreciate it!
you do kind of have to actively shape how you feel a little bit. you can't just like, passively wait for the world to impress and inspire you. you have to choose to look for it & you have to choose to find it.
he forgot it at merlinโs place when he rode away wearing his knightly outfit the same way you accidentally forget your jacket at your friendโs house, and now merlin has it and saysย โitโs mineโ even though everybody knows merlin only wears the same 3 shirts in rotation and none of them look like this

Idk ๐ค I'd trust a floating droplet more then a screaming Banshee wanting to freeze your soul. On a bonus they were healing merlin to boot so hey it's a win-win in my book!
As we can see on the attached gif, the spirits of Vilia made some light, a glow. And as you know Dorocha don't come closer to the light, just like don't appear during the day.
And through this year in Camelot Merlin probably spent a lot of time with Lancelot and told him about magic.
Besides, Lancelot was very open to magic from the very beginning. Compared to the people of Camelot, he known that, like everything else, magic also had two sides. He did not grow up in Camelot and was not prejudiced like the others. We don't know his past, he may have dealt with the good side of magic before.
He probably also thought about what Merlin would do. And he trusted the Vilia spirits as he had trusted Merlin from the beginning - without certainty, but with a good feeling.
This is one of the things we love him for so much.
This is probably not the thing to be focusing on but Lancelotโs smile here is for Merlin because heโs going to be healed and protected through the night. Not only that, but heโs enthralled by the beauty of the magic surrounding them. Everything that Merlin is, Lancelot finds beautiful. This moment, followed by his awakening to a much healthier Merlin standing on his own two feet, is so crucial to his character. As Lancelotโs love and amazement grows, weโre seeing what ultimately inspires him to die in Merlinโs place.
The Code of Chivalry, as adhered to by the Knights of the Round Table in Arthurian legend, told of the five virtues of knighthood - Honour, Bravery, Gallantry, Valour and Loyalty. No one man embodies these qualities more than Sir Lancelot.

There should be a scene where Merlin takes Lancelot for a ride on Kilgharrah because then you get that part where Lancelot has a moment of โoh shit Iโve not actually been in the air beforeโ and holds onto Merlin really tight around his waist.
[ID: Sketch in black on white of Merlin, Lancelot, and a baby griffin. The griffin is sleeping beside Lancelot, while Merlin is sitting on his lap with a book in his hands. He's looking slightly sideways and smiling. Lancelot has his arms wrapped around Merlin's chest and is pressing a kiss to the back of his shoulder. End ID]
