Among all the bad things with TVL, there is one good thing.

A. Zell Williams made a fan appreciation post on his substack. It’s both a heart warming and heartbreaking read about his time with IWTV and his exit. He put it best as to what they had done to him and he’s right.

“If you treat people with respect only as long as you need them, that last act of indifference will define your time together and the success of what you’ve made”

All the best to you Mr. Williams. Maybe I’ll write him a letter of thanks for what he brought to the show.

shitty MS Paint 3 minutes doodle, nto entirely accurate: When you have your pinky hooked on the “bottom” edge of the phone for the extra security so it doesn’t slide out of your hand that easily, you’re wreaking damage on your hand, since the pinky is extremely askew from it’s resting position. You might have noticed that when you hold your phone like that for long time it begins to hurt, like when you are gripping a pen too tightly for example.

Green lines - the fingers are going their natural way. Red line - the pinky is way off, that’s bad.

In pretty much every ep of iwtv season 3 i would find some scenes or moments very compelling/effective and others stupid or insulting or just absurd to the point I was thrown out of the story and couldn’t feel anything about it. It was especially stark in the finale because it would cut from Lestat’s jungian dreamscape purgatory (which I mostly liked and was engaged with) to the loumand torture chamber (sucks. I can’t even imagine what they were thinking). And I started to get this strong deja vu like “this specific type of whiplash really reminds me of something… I’ve experienced this before… what is it” and then I realized what it was reminding me of is Anne rice’s the vampire chronicles….. So that’s kind of where I’m at with it. This has gone from being an adaptation that elevates the source material to one that pretty much matches how messy stupid and periodically moving the books are (and like the books can only be recommended with heavy caveats wrt racism and the handling of abuse)

I get why people are upset though because most of us went into the books either with no expectations or with explicit forewarning of their flaws, whereas we were hoping the show would live up to expectations set by its previous two seasons. And ofc there’s also the frustration and secondhand indignation of watching Jacob and Assad have to perform material that is a complete waste of their talent and time. Anne rice didn’t involve innocent bystanders in her bad writing to such an extent.
