I'm a pacifist like institutionally but I'm absolutely certain that violence solves at least some problems on a much smaller level. I don't believe in wars or nuclear weapons or military campaigns I do believe in the power of that guy who punched the nazi in the face so hard his entire media presence immediately crumbled to dust

If you're comfortable accusing anyone of faking disability, you're not a real ally to disabled people
One time when I was a kid a group of girls and I had to treat another student for hypothermia by ourselves because she had so many invisible health issues that the adults we asked for help didn't believe us. The student in question was actively hallucinating. When I finally ran for help the people I grabbed were slow as shit to respond, casually joking about how "dramatic" the person in question was.
The kid was picked up by an ambulance 30 minutes later.
Now as an adult working in security I get SO MANY folks- upper-middle aged mostly- coming to me to 'rat out' people they think are faking it.
I was once sent into a bathroom because a client demanded that the "fucker won't get out, so good drag them out"- I was NEVER going to do that, so I did a wellness check instead. You know who it was? A person recently released from the hospital after a car accident. They had a hole in their skull and major hearing loss. They couldn't answer the owner because they couldn't HEAR the owner.
Another time about a homeless man who got around town by kicking the ground from his wheelchair. "You know he doesn't actually need that thing, his legs work fine, it's just for pity points"- Oh, so he's not paralyzed, his wheelchair is performative? Funny story Dale, I actually know that guy, he was backed over by a truck and has chronic pain from his shattered pelvis. But sure, let's make him stand up and walk everywhere so nobody feels too bad for him and tries to help him or something.
"She doesn't need that scooter, I've seen her get out of it."
"Look how fat he is, because he just rides around and refuses to get up."
"She doesn't really need that cane- she comes here without it all the time"
Sincerely, truly, from the bottom of my heart- as someone who isn't physically disabled but hears this shit all the time- fuck off
hi... due to my poor (worsening, it seems.) health situation i had another crappy month where i've gotten through nowhere near enough of my work and i am in a really awful spot financially, which is to say right now i can't afford rent, pain medicine (and i am in dire need of it right now đ), phone bill, or groceries. i have no choice but to ask for help if it's not a problem and isn't going to put you in a bad spot financially in turn.
i need $700 overall (usd) to have all of that taken care of, but anything, even a little bit, helps and lets me eat and not be in a ton of pain all day and thus hopefully sort things out as best i can. i also really appreciate sharing.

Apparently my favorite picture books as a child were written by queer authors. This brings me joy.
Look, most of the queer people I know, myself included, had pretty rough childhoods (for a variety of reasons, but being recognizably queer was part of it) and as a result, we are fiercely protective of kids. Not protecting kids in a walled-garden sense the way conservatives want, but celebrating the wonder and whimsy and weirdness of being a child, and treating children as people - people who might need more supervision and care, but people with opinions and thoughts that really do matter. So of course the most beloved children's books of the last 40 years are written by queer folx. It makes perfect sense.
art is just iteration and reiteration and this one single paragraph changed my life

So! This is a perfect case study in situations where you should be wary of misinformation.
Take a moment and ask yourself, a project like this requires a lot of time, money and dedication of resources, why would scientists dedicate that time to something that could just be done by a tree?
The answer is they wouldn't. So that means this claim requires further investigation!
This project is called LIQUID 3, and it's not meant for cities with wide open spaces, it's meant for cities like Belgrade in Serbia. These cities are densely populated and heavily polluted, to the point where pollution actually chokes out current trees and makes creating green spaces difficult.
Liquid 3 was a PhD scientists answer to these problems. The microalgae tank is intended for spaces where you either:
Don't have enough space to plant full trees, or
Don't have enough time to plant trees and wait for them to grow up.
The tank is extremely efficient when you consider the amount of space needed compared to the amount of CO2 turned into oxygen. The tank can operate throughout the winter. And most importantly, it can be quickly set up in areas that desperately need relief from air pollution NOW not in 10 years when trees are done growing. Children currently suffocating on polluted air can't wait for trees to grow, they need to be taken care of now, and Liquid 3 is one of the ways to take care of them. Depending on the species of microalgea used, a number have shown a pretty amazing capacity to pull heavy metals out of the air which is something trees can get choked up by.
The tanks aren't just tanks either! Liquid 3 have solar panels placed on top, they have lighting and mobile phone charging, and they work as public benches. The designers of it want to encourage green spaces where there's room, but where there isn't room or time, Liquid 3 can step in. Realistically, this isn't a replacement for trees. It's replacing boring metal city benches with new, cooler benches that also clean the air (and have at least some heating during the winter).
Not only that, but the microalgea that grows is native to Serbia and all that microalgea has a ton of great uses! It makes for great fertilizer, compost, wastewater treatment, cleaner biofuels and even for helping create new tanks for further air purification. They only require a quick algae divide once a month, and the produced algae can be carted off to where ever it's needed. This makes them effective solutions for areas that can't sustain complex installations.
So yeah, there's actually quite a lot of places that would like these. Lots of people currently breathing in terrible quality air would much rather have their boring city benches replaced with really fucking cool algae tanks that clean the air and can be used to help create + sustain future green spaces in cities. I dunno about you, but I'd take that over a dumb metal bench any day. Put these at every bus stop and I'd be delighted.
can ppl pls reblog this version
Well damn. I was also like wtf is this stupid slime tank and then I read the rest and my mind got blown
Female Dwarves - With or without beards?

Child Dwarves - With or without beards?

Baby Dwarves - With or without beards?
With beards
Without beards
They shed their baby beards to make room for their adult beards. Like with baby teeth.
This actually happens a lot with irl babies; they'll be born with hair that falls out and then regrows in a darker shade. Clearly dwarves are the same with beards.
drugs are not evil & eliminating addiction isn't the endpoint of the universe
Having easy access to safe places to get drugs literally prevents and reduces addiction. The crack dealer doesn't care about you, just your money, but a properly staffed clinic that doesn't condemn you will also have easy access to resources to get clean. Going cold turkey is literally dangerous, and having medical care to help you ease through it is essential; a hell of a lot of addicts literally can't go clean without either dying or going to jail, so instead they stay addicted. And that's not even mentioning how drug addiction is almost always just self medicating for other very real issues, or how no one seems to be nearly this judgemental about tobacco and alcohol despite both being drugs that are often fairly dangerous.
Just let people have the pain meds and antidepressants that work for them.
you're a good soldier for mommy, aren't you?

starting a new company, Autistic Auditors, where we send blunt autistic people to check up on things like companies to stand there and be like âactually that thing the CEO said made no sense, elaborateâ and pushing them to actually explain their dodgy corporate language that avoids accountability and reliability. Just really grind them down with repeated âwhyâ and âbut what does that meanâ and writing down the answers in clear and obvious language.
IDK Iâm just sick of hearing how Business Bros talk and how many people are suckers for it. I want blunt people standing there going âhey, that guy didnât actually SAY anything, he just strung together a bunch of nonsense corporate words to make you think âooo profitâ but thereâs nothing substantial hereâ
We would do the same to politicians.
Hello! Autistic accountant who didnât realize the autism part until their mid-30s here. Very pleased to report that the profession with very clear black and white rules, an expectation of social awkwardness, and strong ethical standards that require both seeing through bullshit and brutal honesty is both VERY FUN and tends to attract plenty of people with autistic traits.
Auditor is basically the most hardcore, rule compliant, and honest form of accountant.
Everyone in the notes saying that this sounds so fun and you would do it for free⌠no really this is a legit profession that people will pay you very real actual money to do.
If you like putting things in neat organized categories and having columns of numbers that always add up correctly then accountant may be a good career for you.
It doesnât matter how old you are, some of the best CPAs I know are people who joined the profession well into adulthood. A couple community college accounting classes will get you what you need to handle a small business bookkeeping gig, and if you enjoy that but wish it was more complex then going for an accounting degree and/or CPA license may be a surprisingly good time.
