Hello everyone, I'm trying to move out of my current apartment that is a major health hazard. Since being here I've had a "water leak" (Raccoon) eat through my bathroom roof, had a bee infestation that lead to roaches and ants (Landlord knew just let me move in and then finally "fixed it"). My walls move, I can hear pests running around in there, I can see the inside of my hose through the floorboards, sewer smells through the drains, etc. etc. you get the picture.
Good news is that I am approved for Section 8 and have some places willing to work with me- bad news is that I still need to pay the security deposits. I've reached out to multiple places in my community that are supposed to help with that but I either do not meet the requirements (I have to be homeless for most funds) or they do not have funding.
I'm a disabled POC on SSDI and barely can work more than 15 hours a month and my current landlord knows this and is not only going back on his word to take my section 8 but he is now raising my rent so it is pricing me out of this unit.
Security Deposit + moving costs from utilities is as follows:
Deposit 875$ for the unit I am looking at
Electric and Internet: 75$
I am also trying to get help from a professional moving service as I said I am disabled and can not do all this moving myself and I have no family to help me, anything extra is going towards that. I am waiting back on the estimate.
