Something about the bastardization of the story time and time again proves that nobody in power really cares about the people who would resonate with King’s Carrie White. A girl so ugly and repulsive she’s been removed from her own story. The societal need for women and girls to be constantly perceived as attractive is what fuels a fair amount of her torment in the book, but that person isn’t even allowed to exist on the screen. We cannot empathize with her; it isn’t allowed. It’s fascinating to me.

the waffle house system just falls apart entirely if you knock into the plate right? Like it just becomes an entirely new menu item if you knock the jelly packet over? Why does the system work off of ruining ingredients? You gotta tear up a piece of cheese to mark the customer wanting cheese. Do they re-use the slice of cheese the worker ripped up on your meal or do they get a new one? I just imagine waffle houses have piles of brick hard buscuits and dried up tomatoes that they re-use for marking orders for like a month straight until its too gross to be used anymore. Also If you're using the plate and it gets rotated at some point it becomes a different order entirely. Is this why theres so many fist fights in waffle house? the system is so bad and flawed that orders come in wrong like 80% of the time and it makes people go into fight mode
