alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
please rb for larger sample size!
Question 1/3
What is your age, and do you feel AI is a net positive or net negative in our lives today?
under 18, AI is a net positive
under 18, AI is a net negative
18-29, AI is a net positive
18-29, AI is a net negative
30-45, AI is a net positive
30-45, AI is a net negative
46-60, AI is a net positive
46-60, AI is a net negative
over 60, AI is a net postive
over 60, AI is a net negative
Question 2/3
How often do you visit or interact with museums/archives (whether in person or online)?
Frequently (multiple times per month)
Often (multiple times per year)
Occasionally (a couple times per year)
Rarely (once every couple of years)
Never :(
Question 3/3
If you saw a museum was using AI in exhibits, marketing, research, etc., would you be more or less inclined to visit that museum?
under 18, more inclined
under 18, less inclined
18-29, more inclined
18-29, less inclined
30-45, more inclined
30-45, less inclined
46-60, more inclined
46-60, less inclined
over 60, more inclined
over 60, less inclined
Thank you for helping with this data collection. Please rb for as big a sample as possible!

I love when a meme gets so many steps away from its source material that it would be completely incomprehensible if I didn't know what today's date was
Maybe we have so many stories about the stars dying for unknown reasons becauseâŚ
From our vantage point, the stars really ARE âdeadâ because of light pollution. Night is almost a blank black sky. And we canât really control the cause so we like to imagine some other reasons it could be happening or have happened.
And we like to imagine that there is hope to fix it.

btw this is laerte. She is 73 now! Making art and being happy! It's never too late to transition

this is the greatest story ever told

#there are a lot of good reasons not to use child labor#but admittedly one of them is that children arenât good at it
i need to show you all something that made me crylaugh last night. just fucking look at them.
It's fine they just went a little nuts with the character creation face sliders

I have no explanation for this other than it's what pops into my head whenever I hear this on the radio
I wanna get tossed in some salt and oil and roast away ...

Douglas Adams is the best when it comes to describe characters
they need to teach classes on Douglas Adams analogies okay
âHe leant tensely against the corridor wall and frowned like a man trying to unbend a corkscrew by telekinesis.â
âStones, then rocks, then boulders which pranced past him like clumsy puppies, only much, much bigger, much, much harder and heavier, and almost infinitely more likely to kill you if they fell on you.â
âHe gazed keenly into the distance and looked as if he would quite like the wind to blow his hair back dramatically at that point, but the wind was busy fooling around with some leaves a little way off.â
âIt looked only partly like a spaceship with guidance fins, rocket engines and escape hatches and so on, and a great deal like a small upended Italian bistro.â
âIf it was an emotion, it was a totally emotionless one. It was hatred, implacable hatred. It was cold, not like ice is cold, but like a wall is cold. It was impersonal, not as a randomly flung fist in a crowd is impersonal, but like a computer-issued parking summons is impersonal. And it was deadly - again, not like a bullet or a knife is deadly, but like a brick wall across a motorway is deadly.â
And, of course: âThe ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks donât.â
the one that will always stay with me is âArthur Dent was grappling with his consciousness the way one grapples with a lost bar of soap in the bath,â i feel like that was the first time i really understood what you could do with words.

These circles are stationary
Thanks I hate it.
*sigh* all power to hypnotoad.
Checked with a ruler and took screenshots - the circles are completely stationary. The effect is also not generated by the arrows, rather by the oscillating color.
The rings have 1px wide borders that oscillate out of phase with their interiors, and your eyes perceive the phase shifted borders as moving edges. Itâs really neat, our optic nerves have specific hardware for edge detection and this gif fools it!
Also if I look away from the gif and stare at a spot, the gif looks really trippy in my peripheral vision. A++
My brain hurts.
