iâm so fucking pissed off at this picture
wwhat the fuckâŚ.
I FUCKING LOVE THIS
oh my god thank you for the second perspective, it honestly makes me feel way less stressed about this image, you have no idea
Hereâs the second image again since it somehow disappeared in reblogs
when people say stuff like "you need to have hobbies that aren't media" i agree with the letter of it, because i think that you have to have at least one or two tactile hobbies to stop you from descending into madness. but its never actually about that it always comes with the smug, condescending implication that media is a kind of consolation prize for people who aren't able to have Real interests. and its just like. well i actually do think the collective body of books, film, plays, television, comics, and video games produced by the human race is vast and meaningful enough that a life spent mostly picking through it and reflecting on it could be perfectly fulfilling
todayâs the only day you can reblog this

Most people I know had that one movie as a kid; that one movie that they would watch over and over and over to the resigned acceptance of their parents. Iâve always thought that movie says something about a person. What was your movie?
I think abt this tiktok all the time
Diversity hire bryson ur absolutely slaying
always a dread omen seeing the comments on a post saying "I love when the alt text is part of the joke!" bc nine times out of ten the alt text is not part of the joke, nor does it accurately translate a visual joke into language while maintaining the humor, but instead it is tangential to or a digression from the image being described and is only funny if you can both see the image and read the alt text, and therefore is actually a joke at the expense of everyone relying on alt text because they can't see the image.

They are: An orange cat with a nintendo switch, a yellow cat with a piano, a black and white cat with a laptop, a brown cat with a notebook and pencil, a white cant with a plant in a pot, and a yellow cat with a d8. imagine being one of daniel molloyâs daughters and finding out the deadbeat asshole you hate bagged the hottest guy you have ever seen in your life. and on top of that, the gorgeous man is rich, which means heâs not going after that old manâs book money. you canât even make fun of your dickhead dad for being a fool falling for a sugar baby scheme. worst of all that gorgeous interesting rich guy seems to genuinely be deeply in love with your horrible dad and you have never seen your fuckass dad look happier. i would be so fucking mad. no amount of therapy would cure the bitterness in my heart. the old bastard doesnât deserve all that, is just not fair, what the fuck man

#do u think that it was awkward in the group when the rest found out that shere khan hunted down and tried to kill a kid multiple times? #im not discussing the ethics of shere khan trying to kill a child or whether mowgli deserved it or not im just wondering like. #was it awkward for them #do u think tigger and hobbes text abt him and how they canât invite him to big family bbqs anymore bc of chris and calvin? #does tony stop posting group pics that have shere khan in them bc he doesnât want to lose his kelloggs endorsement? #tigress probably is the neutral party bc humans donât even exist to her #is there a big drunken blowout between them one night where the tension is too strong #and shere khan yells about how âyou donât understand! he tied a fucking ON FIRE BRANCH to my TAIL!! i was traumatized!â #and theyre all like âyou donât think he was traumatized??? you were hunting him and telling the whole jungle you were going to kill him!â #thereâs a scuffle that ends in tigress holding back shere khan and both tigger and calvin holding back tony⌠#eventually the latter two convince tony to leave the restaurant for some fresh air #and and shere khan breaks down and sobs that he just wants his fucking friends back while the rest of the restaurant watches in silence? #idk something to think about

NOT THE
the ideal chai latte is one of the most amazing things on this earth. itâs a shame that most cafes think they have to serve either a cup of grit or milk that they whispered the names of spices to
I really wish it was common knowledge that powerchair features like tilt in space, reclining backrests and elevating leg rests are medically necessary features rather than luxuries. Or failing that for people to just not comment on it when they see a mobility aid with a feature that they arenât familiar with.
It would be great if I could reposition, relieve pressure and pain and help my body tolerate being out of bed without someone feeling the need to make a comment about how âitâs not bedtime yetâ or âI wish I could relax like that whenever I wantedâ
if you comment on a mobility aid to any effect other than "that's cool, I didn't know that was a thing!" or "damn I'm glad you get the mobility aids you need" or "maybe I should stop ignoring my own pain and frailties and see if a cane or other aids might help me live my life more easily" then you get hit with an anvil, new rule
Honestly, even these would rub me up the wrong way in certain contexts. My rule would be to not bring it up unless A) the wheelchair user themselves brings it up or B) itâs immediately necessary (like explaining where the wheelchair access to your shop is)
I often get people saying my chair is cool and they havenât seen something like it before and itâs something I tolerate rather than appreciate. Because while I might be the first person youâve met with a tilt in space chair with a non-standard control mount, you are far from the first person Iâve met that day who hasnât come across someone like me before. Especially if youâve just met me or weâre still getting to know each other, then itâs just a reminder to me that my wheelchair is the first thing people see when they look at me.
Iâd also definitely steer clear of âIâm glad you get the mobility aids you needâ, because unless someone has told you that their current aid meets all their needs, how would you know? My chair looks fancy and high tech but I can list a bunch of ways it doesnât fully meet my needs without even thinking about it. It also brings the focus back to my wheelchair and comes across as implying that I need to be grateful for it. Which if I havenât started that conversation is very uncomfortable.
Iâd also be careful with bringing up your own health stuff with random wheelchair users you donât know especially if you wouldnât be having that same conversation if our disability wasnât so visible. This one is more nuanced and Obviously if we know each other then thatâs one thing, but you wouldnât believe how often I get random strangers telling me about their bad knees, dodgy backs and other health stuff. Often itâs well meaning attempts at connection but if you donât know me well you have no idea what Iâll be able to relate to and the conversation can become very one sided. I remember talking about this with a friend who has a traumatic SCI, and he told me about struggling through a conversation with a near stranger weighing up if their chronic pain meant they should use a wheelchair yet and him not knowing how to politely say that he had no idea because the choice to use a wheelchair was made for him in the most traumatic experience of his life.
And Iâm aware that Iâm just one powerchair user, and often have different opinions on things like this to other wheelchair users, but itâs worth being aware of that not everyone has the same experiences with this.
Thank you for the addition!! My experience using mobility aids is limited to occasionally needing a cane, so obviously different than yours
Youâre welcome, thank you for being nice about it :-)
i think its charming when peoples personal lives improve and they get drastically worse at posting

going to be thinking about this youtube comment forever
My theory on why parental estrangement has become a more common talking point is that the advent of technology fundamentally changed how parental estrangement works and is seen by others. Pre-internet, if you wanted to get away from your family, you moved away far enough for it to be unrealistic to be visited without planning (eg needing flights or boats or multiple days of travel), and you might send letters to your family or not, and you might visit them once a year or not, and that was all seen as fairly normal behaviour for someone who moved that far away. The parents neighbours have no way of keeping tabs on you, and your parents dont either - theres no facebook or anything, so theres no gossip that your parents are kept out of by being blocked online while your neighbour isnt. Compare that to the modern day, where the parent can SEE the estranged child active online, can digitally stalk them, and so can the neighbours/other friends/family, so other people can notice that their kid isnt posting a mothers or fathers day message, they arent being tagged in photos of family events, theres no mention or sight of them on their kids page...... and their kid looks a LOT happier and MUCH different than they did when they lived at home...... Basically, tech has enabled estranged parents more access to their missing children than ever before, and has made their estrangement much more visible to their community than before, hence why the topic is talked about more. If a neighbour comes over and sees an old photo of your kid, and asks how they're doing, you can laugh it off and say "oh they send letters all the time, but they forget to send photos, so i pick them up when i visit, and i havent gone in a while on account of (injury/price/other minor issue), you know how it is", and the actual fact that their child hasnt spoken to them in 5+ years and they dont know where they live now is not mentioned. Compare that to the much more visible and much harder to argue or defend against - facebook post about celebrating adoptive mothers on mothers day, with their child celebrating with their partner's mother, and no mention of their biological one, which might be seen by any friends/family left behind locally, who are then made aware of the reality in a way that the estranged parent cannot control. Its all about control, and in some ways, tech has removed the estranged parent's control over the narrative as well as their child, and thats what has them so riled up, imo
thank uou for showing me your little white boy i do not like him can you put him away please
