there’s very few things that drive me up the wall in fandom as much as this weird new assumption that fandom is primarily a space for younger people that older folks are only accepted into in a trial basis if they promise to centralize and accommodate younger fans, and further, anything else is creepy and predatory. IT’S OKAY FOR ADULTS TO PRODUCE CONTENT FOR OTHER ADULTS.
if I have to read “women in their 30s” used as an insult one more time I swear I’ll - step away from that user and just hang out with the other grownups who consistently create good content because I’m also an adult and too busy comparing car insurance to fight with teenagers on the internet, but goddAMMIT I’ll be annoyed
I’ve been in this hole since yall lil shits were three apples tall and I’ll die in this hole too
Older fans are building and running the sites you use to fandom on. Myself (41) included.
When I was growing up, not caring about science was a flex.
This might have proven detrimental to our planet in multiple ways.
the urge to write is like a cat meowing for dear life for someone to open the goddamn door, who then shows utter disinterest in said open door
“autism wouldn’t have been difficult before capitalism” “nothing that caused me burnout existed before industrialization” well what if your boots feel weird against your skin. and your cape is itchy and too heavy. and your brooch keeps making an annoying sound everytime you move and this party is too loud and you’re hungry and there’s pigeon stew but you can’t stand the texture of pigeon so you ate some olives and now your hands feel oily and gross and you drank a little bit too much wine (bc there’s no clear water. also it was too bitter) so now your head hurts and you feel a little hot but not hot enough to take your cape off and you promised this time we leave when I asked, Aurelius! you promised! and don’t forget we still have a three hour ride back home you promised it’s not going to be like last time! or something of the sort.
the ‘Life only started sucking in the 19th century’ attitude as anti-capitalist praxis is truly hilarious like. personally, if the sun was even a tiny little bit too hot on the back of my neck while i was being kidnapped and taken as a war captive after *insert empire here* conquered my home i wouldve been pissed. praefectus if the shackles feel weird on my skin im killing us both

why is this post completely broken in every way imaginable
Broken notes… deactivated account… removed image….
Finally, we have them all.
In addition: OP’s name is just… gone. No “[insert username]-deactivated[insert a bunch of numbers]” as is the standard for deactivated blogs.
Just the world “deactivated.” Look upon their post, ye mighty, and despair.
It’ll be almost impossible to find this post unless it wanders across your dash.
It wandered across mine. I shall help it travel forward.
this is not a place of honor
Oh hey post of Ozymandius, good to see you again standing on your feet in a desert where no one remembers you

The Good Place – 2.09: Best Self
Monday horror story: Remembering telling myself, "I'll email them about that on Monday", and now having NO IDEA who I was going to email about what.
Good times.

The best "online-ageism" rebuttal I think I've ever seen
Check this out.
...Gotta adapt this for myself to include CompuServe and Fidonet. :)
Reblogging for "I have usernames older than you".
I GOT A FUCKING RAISE THE POTATO WORKED WTF
This potato works. Every. Fucking. Time.
Then bring me luck
the day after I posted this last time I was notified that I was selected for a really cool mentorship gig and got an unrelated glowing review at work
Hey Potato, cure my -ing cold so I can have a good time while away.
Here's the potato. Make what use of it you will. :)
let’s be real the pressure to use AI as an adult is exactly what they said the pressure the do drugs as a teenager would be like but the people that told us that caved immediately for the AI and definitely did not just say no
there’s this very vocal very tradwifey subset of adult adoptees I keep seeing who are like. adoption is inherently immoral, a child belongs with its biological parents no matter what, sperm and egg donation is abuse and children will be traumatized if they do not share their parents’ dna. and on one hand it’s really sad because I’m sure these are people who were mistreated or unloved in ways they directly connect with their adoptions, and both the adoption and foster care industry are fucked. but jesus christ.
Whenever I read things that I typed on my phone, I appear to have been drunk or possessed at the time. That is why I'm the last of my generation to use a keyboard.

Bugs Bunny accidentally transformed the word nimrod into a synonym for idiot because nobody got a joke where he sarcastically compared Elmer Fudd to the Biblical figure Nimrod, a mighty hunter.
Etymology is ridiculous and terrifying sometimes
Bugs Bunny is more powerful than God
He also solidified the idea of rabbits loving carrots when carrots actually carry very little nutritional value for rabbits. The funniest part of that is that the original joke was a reference to a Clark Gable film where Gable munches on a carrot, it was never meant to imply that rabbits love carrots. The Clark Gable reference would’ve been obvious to audiences in the 40s but it has been pretty much lost to time.
Bugs Bunny has too much power and should be feared.
We frequently ask why adult friendships are so hard to come by and maintain. I looked at how I made friends as a kid, and realized that alone explained part of the problem. So, how did I make friends?
Our parents became friends at the same time.
We lived in the same neighborhood and got chatting/playing.
We were in the same classes, had the same lunch period, rode the same bus (the latter goes hand-in-hand with neighborhood friends).
Notice anything? Convenience. We were consistently in the same place at the same time, doubly so if our parents were friends. Some of these friends were people I had nothing in common with outside of said proximity.
Note, too, that a lot of these friendships fell apart as soon as something changed.
Our parents and our friends' parents drifted, which meant we drifted.
One of us moved.
We no longer had classes or a lunch period together.
We got busy with classes, extracurriculars, after-school jobs, significant others
While some friendships made it through those changes intact, they usually changed. We either stopped being as close or drifted entirely. Because it stopped being convenient.
In adulthood, you rarely have that convenience to begin with.
