It doesn't look good because I need to actually curate what's on the walls and the guest room is due for a reset in general, but I got the second diy gallery rail up! Now I can messily hang art on two walls without putting nails through the wallpaper. And hey! Being able to easily adjust what's hanging on the walls is the whole point of gallery rails.
The rail is just a very long sturdy curtain rod held to the wall with copper pipe brackets from the plumbing department of my local hardware store. Normal curtain rod mounts hold the rail too far away from the wall. Then it's just sections of chain (or ribbon) on S-hooks to hold the paintings.
What impresses me most is the attention to design. There's formatting and layout involved.
Did this bouncer like, bring this person home, put them to bed, start the laundry, and then sit down to make a little Drunk Guest zine? Does he do this regularly so he had a template ready? Is that cool or a little weird? Was he attracted to his guest and hoping to make a great first impression? Was he just super anxious that they weren't waking up before he'd have to leave for presumably his day job, so he poured it all into this little gem the following morning? Is his day job in typesetting?
It manages to inspire even more questions than it answers, which is quite the feat.

the new content filters and the flagging system require every reblogger to appeal independently from the poster.
What is happening?
With the latest tumblr content filter updates, every reblog is flagged independently from the original post without the OP knowing. This means that if your post is reblogged by someone and that reblog is flagged, you won't know. The note count will go up, but the note is hidden: you can't see it on the rebloggers blog or any other reblogs branching from the flagged post.
What should I do?
Every reblogger needs to appeal for their own reblogs. Thankfully the review time on Tumblr's side has been fast, usually in a couple of hours they restore the post. If you can notify the OP, grand. If you have time, leave a support ticket, choose feedback and tell them why you think this is a bad model.
Why and how should I do it?
We all know the latest and contested change about the note counts that was thankfully rolled back, but its ramifications are still in use. Tumblr now considers every reblog a post in its own right, as you can see from the new banners for the same post as above:
The turn this website has taken regarding the ownership of posts is at best discouraging and at worst a massive disrespect done to all the artists, creators, gifmakers, fic writers and meta writers out there, making fandom fun and alive. If artists, writers and gifmakers don't get autonomy over their own art being shared on this website, how is a reblog different from a repost, something tumblr actively discourages from doing? How can the OP appeal for a post if they don't even know it's flagged? Why are we taking away ownership of the art from the artist, the human behind it?
How do I appeal?
Tumblr has this very useful feature, both on the website and on the mobile app:
You can find all the flagged posts on your blog either by going to the relevant blog>right hand menu, below Posts, Followers, Activity>Review flagged posts on the website OR by going to Settings>Review flagged posts on the mobile
Then you click on Appeal, and write a very short reason why, describing the post. You can even write this:
This post has nothing that is against the User Guidelines.
My favorite brand of people are musicians who hear Rush Fucking E, which isn't technically meant to be played by a human at all, and immediately picking up their instrument and going 'bet'.

tbh when I ran into the âhorses are for rich peopleâ bullshit I was so confused because theyâre cheaper than a motorcycle? cheaper than an iPhone? then I realized most people werenât dealing with the $900-$3k auction slaughterhouse bound pasture ornaments I grew up riding. I get that theyâre extraordinarily cost prohibitive pets, especially if you donât live in an area where land is as cheap as the dirt but you say âhorseâ and Iâm like. oh yeah.
like ohhhhhhh. you meant an $18k+ thoroughbred that is somehow more inbred than any of these 3 sad little equines. havenât encountered many of those.
also it is so interesting to talk to these people about how they got their horses. I met a woman who had a really beautiful white gelding and I asked her how she got him and she proceeded to explain to me he was mauled by a pack of feral dogs (common in my area) and his elderly owner didnât have the money to get him treated or the desire to put him down so he was giving away this poor baby on a first come first serve basis. one of my momâs neighbors inherited an elderly horse from his ex girlfriend and had the horse on essentially horse hospice for years and the horse was just not ready to go. there is a horse distribution system like the cat distribution system.
the term ânever look a gift horse in the mouthâ is still relevant and there are still people trying to gift you horses with terrible dental issues. for free.
I love telling people that my mum bought my familyâs first horse at a yard sale. We lived in a really rural area at the time and yeah, our neighbours (next ranch/farm over) had a yard sale and sold off three of their old ranch horses. She bought one for $200, led it down their lane and then up our lane and tada we had a horse in our back pasture!
Mr Mustang was $400 from the Bureau of Land Management.
Pal was $900 from my godmother who had some vet bills to clear up.
And thatâs the ones we paid for. We had a whole suite of elderly horses while I was growing up that we just got for free. Elderly school horses who were retiring or old kids ponies with asthma in need of a good home to live out their days. They were great horses who had a ton to teach me.
There is absolutely a horse distribution system like the cat distribution system, you just need to be in the right place and also be happy to have an older horse with probably some health issues (and definitely terrible teeth).

Jenny was originally designed to be a shape-shifting superhero; her âpigtailsâ are rocket thrusters, and her entire body can morph and shift to create weapons. Given her standard appearance is more to look like a humanoid girl, it seems reasonable that thatâs an appearance she chose, rather than her default, especially because we know she can modify her appearance however she likes, albeit restricted to her two base colors unless she gets a new paint-job.
Though her mother learns to be more supportive of her later on, Jenny was originally confined to house arrest save for doing her job, supposedly because the world around her wouldnât accept her.
She is canonically six-foot-six, which is rather tall, though it seems the average height of humanity has also gone up. So itâs not too uncommon for other men to be taller than her, but sheâs also taller than most people. She has so far only dated other men who are taller than her.
She gains two different disguises for looking human. The first one doesnât pass at all, while the second passing one convinces her to behave like a normal human girl, whispering into her ear to not only look, but behave like a ânormalâ girl, even if itâs not in her best interests.
Itâs evidently quite common for androids to be made from different base personality points- Kenny, a boy she dated for a little while, was a re-purposed dog robot, and still carried over some of his dog traits.
The two most popular girls in school specifically have it out for her, because sheâs a robot âpretendingâ to be a girl.
Jenny is allowed to play in her high schoolâs male football team.
Iâd suspected Jenny was trans coded for a long time, but this scene was what had me 100% convinced.Â
Prior to this episode Jenny had always treated Ms. Wakeman as her mother, always referring to her as âmom/motherâ; which caused Wakeman to be mocked by her peers. Ms. Wakeman was typically cold towards Jenny, always referring to her as XJ9 (essentially Jennyâs deadname) and usually treating her as nothing more than a defence droid. But in this scene Ms. Wakeman is actually seeing Jenny in danger and rushes to protect her, finally calling her âmy daughterâ for the first time. As soon as she does, the pure joy and amazement in Jennyâs voice just makes my heart swell.Â
This show is so incredible and SO ahead of itâs time.Â
Worth noting that the creator of the show acknowledged this, basically saying âWe didnât intend for Jenny to be trans coded, but weâre ecstatic that trans people are finding comfort in her. Just because we didnât intend the subtext doesnât mean itâs not there.â
Very cool and way the hell better than Hartman handles shit like this.
