i think it is important to be cautious and not make generalised statements when family abolition is concerned. when communists speak of it, it means abolishing the coercive functions of the bourgeois family as an economic unit. when capitalists speak of it, they act as if capitalism did not already destroy old family structures and isolates people into increasingly nuclear households while providing no social support in exchange to make proletarians easier to exploit. this is an important distinction because i see people giving out seemingly progressive advice telling rightfully frustrated "queer" people, especially youth, to cut off or actively plan to cut off their family and seek financial independence without providing any alternatives for lasting and reliable support and of course it affects the most proletarianized of them (transfems) and serves ultimately as nothing more than as a way of producing a class of women that are easier to exploit in every possible way.
