I was reminded of this recently, but shout out to the time that our local ACE Hardware sponsored an ace pride event during Ace Awareness Week. The assistant director of one of our local orgs had been fretting over whether or not they would get in trouble for using the ACE logo for pride pins, and I said, 'why not ask them, they're pretty chill over there,' cause I'm a fairly regular customer for key copies and mini painting supplies.

Not only did they get the okay to use the ACE logo in ace pride colors, our local ACE store donated several different tool kits/kit components for raffle prizes and worked with the org to put on an event to make birdhouses run by someone from the store. It was incredible, just a bunch of asexuals having snacks and doing construction. The girl who won the cloth toolbox made it her go to bag for everything instead of a purse or totebag or the like.

This was done to demand the repeal of homophobic Section 28, and to protest the involvement of homophobic millionaire Brian Souter in a Scottish campaign against the repeal. Souter was also the owner of privatised bus company Stagecoach, operating route 15. Section 28 was finally repealed in England and Wales in 2003. [video]
