Ridiculous au where Dick is still the first sidekick and he still founds the Titans, but he’s like a good few years younger than the rest of the Fab Five. Maybe he started the vigilante sidekick thing when he was like fuck it idk 6 or 7. He’s like, 9 when Bruce basically waves him towards the others and says, “Why don’t you go play with your new friends,” meanwhile the others are like 16+ and shocked beyond belief when they realize the Robin they’ve heard so much about from their mentors is a literal child.
Anyway the direction I was going with this thought was something so dramatic happens where one of the Fab Five is at least 18 and when Dick is like 9-10ish, Bruce does something that pisses them all off bc of how he treats Dick. Maybe it’s the firing him from Robin thing bc he got shot by Joker or like nearly killed by Two-Face. Whatever flavor of angst tickles your fancy, so long as it ends with Dick absolutely distraught and running to his friends because he’s convinced Bruce doesn’t want him anymore and doesn’t love him anymore.
Dick, 9 years old, bullet still in shoulder, bleeding barely stemmed, stammering and crying his eyes out because Bruce fired him, because he’s no use to Bruce if he isn’t Robin, because he’s nothing if he isn’t Robin.
And a gaggle of teenage vigilantes who instantly take him in and don’t let any of the adult heroes anywhere near him.
Maybe Donna or Roy (maybe both via marriage of convenience?) actually adopts him. Bruce never got around to it? Tough shit, he’s their kid now, snooze you lose.
Except no one finds out that they adopted Dick until something comes up when Dick is like 22 and all the others bats are in the picture.
Idk I just think this is a fun concept I think it could be really silly really insane lots to work with.
