Simon groans again as he can hear the gentle tip-tap of Eridian legs against the wooden floor of his cabin. It isn't long before Jack is barging into his room with excited chitters. They crawl onto his bed and stand directly in his face, loud notes bouncing off the walls.
“Siiiimon. Wake up wake up wake up,” Jack bounces up and down on the soft plush of his nest. He huffs and throws his organic arm over his face, yet a smile still stretches across his aching face.
“I regret letting you know I can be woken up easily. And hey, you left!” Simon moves his arm just enough to glare at the tiny Eridian, his swirling teal and gold carapace reflecting beautifully in the morning light.
“Sorry, sorry, sorry, ran to Parent Adrian to fix something, Solians sleep lightly. Not gone long, promise,” Jack sings apologetically, and slumps their xenonite covered body against his soft body. Simon rolls his eyes and sits up, leaning heavily on his little Eridian. It was sort of like being an older brother, a luxury he'd never been afforded in the gloom of Eden. Now he lightly pushed Jack out of his way.
“Go be helpful and get my arm, brat,”
“No understand. Can't speak Solian,” Jack sings, despite the fact that he was currently one of the few Eridian completely fluent in Solian English. He was also just a little shit.
“Fucker,” he rolls his eyes again, but quickly grabs his speaking intrument from his bedside and blows into it. “Please get my arm, tired tired tired,”
“Of course, Simon,” Jack chitters happily and rushes off to go grab his prosthetic arm from across the room. It was an engineering marvel that they'd worked hard on over the years, regularly upgrading. “Parent Adrian brought a whole bunch of new materials for us, and the Solian Specialists said they manufactured more me-burgers. A special anniversary is coming up in 14 days.”
“Anniversary?”
“Yes! Simon has lived on Erid for 4 Mars years! Simon, part of Adrian and Jack's family for a long, long time,” Jack throws up his oh so iconic jazz hands, entire body swaying with the movement. Simon can only laugh, though his throat is a bit tight. It's still insane to imagine, all these years later, that a few sentient rocks on a planet that shouldn't exist would be his salvation.
“Alright, I'm getting up, we can't all have instant energy,” Simon swung his legs over the edge of his bed

Grace making huge advencements in the Eridian medical field.
Turns out there's a childhood disease to the tune of measles that erodes the carapace, and the first symptom shows up about a week before any actual damage is caused.
Grace comments to Rocky that one of his students seems to be turning oxidisation-green. About a week later that student has to be hospitalised for this illness.
Eridian scientists realise pretty quick that Grace can detect the illness long before any of their equipment can, and when caught that early it is much, much easier and safer to treat.
Not only is Grace celebrated in the scientific field for his knowledge and for his part in saving the world, he becomes a beacon of hope for doctors and parents and children on Erid.
Quickly after that, rocky's color gun can be found in basically any school or clinic. Turns out in the time they've been coming back home, they've accidentally invented a tool that can eradicate the disease
Except Rocky's gun isn't a color gun, exactly, it's a light gun, taking old Eridian camera-tech (likely developed for very niche scientific purposes, to study phenomena in Erid's upper atmosphere or in orbit) and modifying it for hand-held use. If I recall correctly, it wouldn't function in the pitch-dark that is Erid's typical environment, so the medical device that gets created to test for this disease would be Rocky's gun plus a little flashlight attached.
In the future, Eridian children would get regularly checked out with that device to confirm that their carapace reflects only the expected amount of "middle-rough" light frequency. Passing those checks is a prerequisite for the child to go to classes, etc.
And so eventually, the phrase "given the green light" becomes an idiom for "given the go-ahead" on two different planets, for two very different reasons.
Short version is that Pluto is a later name for the god of death, which is often associated with the Roman era/Roman mythology. Hades is the earlier name.

I am begging you. Please learn about stress/discomfort tolerance. Practice raising it. You need this to survive. If someone online can ruin your day with a throwaway comment, you desperately need to understand discomfort tolerance and consciously, systematically build that shit.
Also! Stress tolerance is such an important skill that having a learning disability in that area is a major symptom of a whole lot of other disabilities/mental illnesses! Struggling with it is a huge part of life! It sucks!
Am I saying everyone with misophonia needs to listen to chewing noises all day? No. But you need to find ways to tolerate it enough that you don't treat others like shit if they make a mouth noise near you.

Any fic that acts as if Lan Wangji cares about Jin Ling in any form besides as "this person Wei Wuxian loves" or that Jin Ling trusts Lan Wangji at all except as vaguely "this authority figure who won't let me come to harm from an external threat" needs a 20 chapter spin off detailing the development of this relationship because in canon Jin Ling shows no trust in Lan Wangji even by the end of the story and Lan Wangji is just an asshole to that kid.
