This is the shit I've been talking about. calling the doctor or engineer “they” does not challenge the listener to imagine the doctor/engineer as anything other than male. using default female pronouns challenges gender bias. radical is centering women in our language. not de-gendering the sentence, superficially making it more inclusive but without challenging the underlying assumptions.

Also fighting gender bias is done through using neutral or female default language for hypotheticals, groups, and unknowns, not for one individual of a definitive sex.
