not to keep posting about this but i don’t think a lot of people realize that forcing women to be in a perpetual state of defensiveness, so much so that it is internalized and wired into our brains from the time we’re born, is actual brain damage and directly mirrors the internal wiring of trauma survivors whose nervous systems are constantly on alert and ready to defend even when they don’t need to be. when you’re living in a state of perpetual defensiveness you become neurotic, hypervigilant, obsessive, anxious, depressed, overreactive, self-conscious, afraid. all of the things that have been historically categorized as feminine traits and behaviors. your true internal needs become masked by this compulsion to always be performing to satisfy externally enforced expectations, and you lose your sense of self and create this situation where what you want/need is directly at odds with what you express (or don’t express) to others. which then is what gives birth to the idea that women never know what they want, women are mysterious and hard to understand, women are always contradicting themselves, women are never clear. it’s like well..yeah because women are repeatedly traumatized both psychologically and physically from the day they’re born and only those who are fortunate enough to encounter sisterhood or wise maternal guidance or individually break free from ideology are able to live authentically. and even then it takes so much work to resist because you still have to operate within a culture that doesn’t have a place for liberated women.
My beef with weed btw is that people act like it’s not a mind altering substance and so will get high every day, go to work high, drive high, without realizing that’s it’s similar to getting buzzed every day, first thing in the morning. I don’t want to hang out with people who are high cause I don’t like hanging out with people who are drunk. Also, I’ve lived in apartments for years and weed fucking stinks and people who smoke it are inconsiderate.
No cause it's actually gotten incredibly out of hand; I took a neuroscience course a while ago where we specifically were learning about drugs impact on the brain, so at the beginning of class the professor had us all take an anonymous survey about our drug use habits. Now I personally would assume that a group of 3rd and 4th year neuroscience students would have a little bit more common sense surrounding safe drug habits, but man was I wrong. No joke, more than 1/3 of the students in my class stated that they had driven while high 4+ times in the last month. Truly terrifying to think about the possibly that anywhere close to 1/3 of people could be driving around high regularly 💀

I really truly love historical sources like this, because they are absolutely invaluable in tackling the meninist argument that womens these days have gotten all uppity and forgotten their god-assigned role of being the good-lady-woman (bangmaid). that whole rhetoric lies on the (false) assertion that some magic, golden period of the past exists in which women enjoyed their oppression, or, better yet, were unaware that they were oppressed at all, and the ‘natural state’ of things (patriarchy) functioned harmoniously.

It's fascinating, isn't it? How in every single space where women talk, there will always, without exception, be women who defend men, who will say the women go too far--by literally just talking.
Meanwhile you can find men saying the most disgusting things about women and girls and not a single man stands up to them to say the tiniest "maybe that's too far" to them.
And the difference, of course, between women saying mean things about men, and men saying what they do about women is that women are only venting. Yes, even those who say they aren't. We know this because it's not thousands of men being murdered by their female intimate partners every year, and many more hospitalized. It's not male babies being murdered just for being male. It's not men in any country of the world, now or ever, being locked in their homes, unallowed to speak to one another or even look out the windows. It's not female police coercing male rape victims to say they lied and then blasting them all over the news as false accusers. It's not an entire industry built on primarily men and boy's sexual exploitation for the pleasure of women.
Then of course there are the things women couldn't do to men even if we wanted to, but men certainly do it to us: forcible impregnation, and forcing women to bring unwanted pregnancies to term, even if it kills her.
But clearly the real problem is women just aren't nice enough to men.
