when we first hit that bit in the files about the deep friendship between Mare and Sobae i thought to myself “this absolutely sounds like a secret relationship” but i figured that was just my himejoshi brain talking. and then at the end of the game you meet Sobae and while you’re still reeling from “the relationship Mare and i had can’t be described by so simple a word as ‘friends’” the game hits you with her character file. Mare was planning on remaining unmarried her whole life to devote herself to Sobae. Okay.

So, in my digging through the Potionomics game files I found something fantastic: failsafe dialogue that triggers when you walk into a competition with literally zero potions.

And every boss round has unique dialogue for it! The devs prepped for a scenario that I can't imagine triggers in normal gameplay because you'd have to actively go out of your way to have nothing in your inventory. Like you'd have to deliberately sell or trash every potion you own the night before.

Anyway here's what everyone has to say when Sylvia shows up to the science fair with no project (including the name of their associated animation):
