Of course they don’t like Milly Alcock’s Supergirl. She’s a grown ass woman with zero love interests who spends the movie saving her dog, casually dismantling a sex trafficking ring while she’s at it, and preaching the importance of being good, not nice or smiley or cheerful but good. I for one adored the movie and I really hope I’ll get to see more of Alcock’s Supergirl she’s now my favorite iteration of her and I love her so dearly.

On this Independence Day Eve, I just wanna say I love America.

I love Big Drink and Ranch dressing and free refills and gargantuan portion sizes and ice in my drinks.

I love road trips and SUVs and pickup trucks.

I love country music.

I love hotel receptionists who drive strangers to a stadium to save them the hour walk and Uber fee.

I love Walmart and Costco and Amazon.

I love moon landings.

I love the mostly-uninhabitable tundra of Alaska and the giant apartment buildings in New York City.

I love the plains and the coasts and the mountains.

I love baseball.

I love the Second Amendment. And the First Amendment. Actually I love all the amendments. And the rest of the Constitution. And the Declaration of Independence.

I love our Founding Fathers.

I love our military.

I love cheeseburgers.

I love air conditioning.

I love cowboy boots.

I love that we proudly display our flag everywhere, from state and national government buildings to our homes. Many countries don't do that.

I love this huge, wild, complicated, imperfect, messy, glorious, incredible country so much.

@hst3000 I always idly wondered about that. I mean, I get where they say you gotta put a stake thru a heart to kill a vampire. Ok, so heart shots only kinda like zombie rules but it’s your ticker instead of your noggin.

But I also have seen what a .308 (or any rifle round really) will do to organs like the heart at self defense distances and it’s not pretty. A stake will put a hole in the heart. A rifle round will put a similar sized hole and then absolutely disintegrate what is left over so you have a cardio-purée for a chest cavity.

What am I missing here? @recoiloperated your thoughts? If the argument is “well the hole isn’t big enough” let’s step it up to 50 Beowulf or 50 BMG and revisit the issue,

Yup. That was quite literally their explicit rationale given in the trades. Afraid it wouldn't have appeal outside the existing fanbase. Forgetting that fanbase supported 3 series, 17 seasons, and 350 episodes of one of the most successful SF franchises of all time.
