I explained that it was a joke, but they just repeated, 'There are no aliens in Area 51.' So I then asked if I could use their response in the script! We actually ended up going with O'neill saying, 'Is this where they keep the aliens?' and the officer replies, 'There are no aliens in area 51.'"

and that's literally stargate. that's the point of the whole show. humans are so curious and hungry to learn and grow and find new things and the beauty of stargate is showing humans Doing Space Travel in present day. star wars is past, star trek is future but stargate is right now and thats The Thesis.
