TIL- those super impressive numbers federal is advertising for their new Peak+ 6.5 CM loads?
Are all from a 20" barrel. And the preproduction loads at least are holding up to those promises.
The American mile rifle is a 24", and is intended to be 26-28" final barrel length.
The 156gr bergers are cooking at 2900fps from a barrel half a foot shorter than the American mile's final barrel.
I could potentially see those insanely high BC begers at over 3000fps, potentially closing on 3200fps...
Given that the particular bullet - the Extreme outer limit has a BC that's essentially only exceeded by other absurdly heavy, long for bore 6.5mm and 7mm bullets, as well as .338 rounds, even if I only get 3000fps- it'll still be supersonic at 1775 yards.
A few other notes-
sadly, extremely heavy 6.5 bullets like the 156gr EOL requires a faster twist rate to get the most beans.
But also, because the HPHV tech has yet to come to .308,
Peak 6.5 creedmoor loads now surpass .308 from the muzzle, not from 300 yards.
I'm impressed. Usually when a manufacturer boasts high velocities it's out of a 24" barrel.
A lot of the tests I've seen show they're underselling the velocity by a bit.
That's kinda a 6.5 creedmoor thing though, the weird 137gr high BC bullets I originally intended to use for the AMR were rated to do 2725 from my 24", it chronied at 2770-2790.
Call me a fudd but I still want a .308 bolt gun. They have NAS3 168gr loads pushing 2600 fps from 13” HK 417’s . I’d wager they can get to close to 2800 from an 18” barrel.
Eh.
Tbh what I want to see given the Peak treatment is .338 federal or .358 Winchester. Give me that 2900fps+ 210 grain

Area419, if I understood the video, was getting 3040fps out of their proof gain twist barrel.
I'll see if I can find the over my lunch break.
Here's the video:
Yep. I've seen some people getting that range, some getting just over 3100, I think it's probably a temperature thing. But most of the time they'll advertise a speed and when you Chrony it you're getting 150-200fps less.
He's getting 60ish under.
Today's flea market find: Winchester industrial 8 gauge slag slug
“Highly effective impact system”
I’ll say

Like if you’re a #sword fan, reblog if you’re a #sword fan.
Has anyone informed the Vegas knights about the rules of hockey? I think they're trying to set a record for most goals wiped off the board during a Stanley cup final.
I mean, I think the hurricanes are trying to set a record for most own goals during a Stanley cup final. But I think the knights need some help.
I see Vegas is still fuzzy on the rules of hockey with back to back penalties for blatant rules violations.

This looks like a minor outpost from ghost recon wildlands
I think I played paintball here once....
just in case anyone forgot how wildly colorful Georgian interiors could be, even among the working class to the wealthy:
and EVEN WHEN things were more muted/neutral, the neutrality was OFFSET by ACCENT COLORS and HIGH CONTRAST between the wood tones and everything ELSE
ALSO AMERICAN COLONIAL INTERIORS POPPED OFF, Y'ALL (IN TERMS OF COLOR/COZINESS)
PEOPLE USED WHITEWASH AND COLORFUL TRIM OR EVEN JUST COLORFUL FURNITURE IF THEY COULD AFFORD TO DO SO
AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON FRENCH AND BRITISH AND AMERICAN WALLPAPERS
"ELIZABETH" YOU CRY, "WHY ARE YOU BEING SO EXTRA THIS MORNING?! IT'S MONDAY"
Because, my friend, my war on GREIGE will NEVER end.
Historic interiors were filled with LIFE and LIGHT and COLOR. ALWAYS HAVE BEEN.
Part of the reason we don't see a lot of textile art is because, frankly, textiles tend to degrade over time - especially ones that had utility! And yes, pigments and weaving and dying all boosted the expense of things, when we were finally reliably block-printing fabrics and broad reams of paper, it was no longer just the wealthy who could afford pretty patterns!
In the Americas, a far wider variety of pigments also became available because of the abundance of... well, a shitton of flora and minerals, some of which weren't as common in Europe.
WHY THE HIGHLIGHTER COLORS? you ask.
CANDLES.
Those colors reflect candlelight and natural sunlight REALLY WELL.
Humans LOVE bright colors, it's NOT just a thing for kids. We live in a brilliant, vibrant, multifaceted world. We ALWAYS have.
(STOP MAKING YOUR HISTORIC SIMS 4 BUILDS BE BLAND. STOP IT.)
Not a Sims guy, but I love this Aesthetic.
Nothing thrums warmth back into my tepid heartstrings like a fellow greige hater. I didn’t realize how common it was until I recently looked into getting new furniture. Never did I have to walk out of store from rage before.
There's an Amish furniture place near me that has a beautiful set of indigo leather living room furniture.
I want it, especially the arm chairs, but they'd be like 10k for the full set.
