Sarah also dropped some insane info about Rand's relationships - the plan was to only have Rand/Elayne and Elayne/Avi, with Rand and Min being close friends. I don't even know how to reconcile this with my view of s3 where I thought Rand and Aviendha had great tension... and I guess this is one way to solve the Min problem but I really wasn't expecting it. honestly this would have probably caused a lot of drama and discourse in the fandom, but I still would have liked to see how it played out both in the story and in the fandom 🫥 and honestly there's no way to preserve any of that without creating discourse so they may as well try something new. Rand and Avi being metamours... I'm spinning it around in my head, I don't know how I feel about it yet. curious to hear other thoughts 👀

Honestly I’m sad they apparently weren’t planning on avirand since I thought avirand was set up really well, and tbh. that kind of diminishes aviendha’s role in the story a bit?? But if they were gonna give rand some different love interests to make up for taking away avirand and minrand, then maybe. Or my long shot belief that min was gonna end up in a messy throuple with mat as her metamour and tuon as their hinge..
Tbh though, idk how I feel about taking the two Butch women in rand’s polycule and only pairing one of them off with a woman. My boy deserves to get topped by two masc bi queens I am just saying.
to your last point, extra questionable that Rand only gets with the white femme love interest and not the two less feminine people of color. a boyfriend would have been nice though. as I said in my last post, we were apparently getting Asmodean so maaaaybe they were going to do something with that. I don't remember the specifics of Min's show vision tbh so I'm not sure how much room for interpretation there was
As much as I love the show, and as much as I fucking hate how the books handle Min/Rand, boy howdy does this bother me. Rand only gets with the white pretty princess? What the fuck? Axing the one canon poly relationship? Okay I guess they keep Aviendha/Elayne but still? I dunno. There were a lot of changes I really liked in the show and a lot I disliked but this is probably the first one that would have made me angry if they actually went through with it. Guess that explains why the didn't bother to have Min or Rand interact at all post season one.
that's... Certainly a choice to make. Did the way the relationships were done in the books have issues? Sure. All the relationships kinda did if we're honest. But those are things that can be tweaked or fixed in the show. Just axing the canon poly relationship is the laziest and shittiest way to fix anything

So, everyone should know Jon from WoTUp! (and if you're not familiar with him, I linked the YouTube channel in question, just behind the parentheses - I DEF recommend the latest Priyanka Bose and Taylor Napier interview - it is just so much fun!) and if you don't know Jon, he's a beacon of hope for the SaveWoT movement, and also for me personally, he's literally the reason why I'm so closely involved with SaveWoT in the first place!
Late last year, his wife, Lisa, was diagnosed with ovarion cancer. It has persisted through chemotherapy, and every other potential solution hasn't worked out. BUT, there is a shimmer of hope: there's a drug that the doctors think might actually work.
Here's he bad news: that drug won't be covered by Canada's universal healthcare until the late fall of this year, which is too late for Lisa, and since it's uncovered, a monthly prescription would cost Jon's family a mind boggling $30,000. That's insanity, but times are dark.
Jon has said that "I'm not too proud to beg for your help if it means I get one more day with my wife.” (and if that's not the SADDEST thing...)
So, I say that we pay it forward to this bright spot in our community by spreading this link all over and/or contributing money. Just to be a bright spot for Jon and Lisa and their family.

well and truly losing it over Mat and Egwene’s parting interaction during Lord of Chaos
this is, if I recall correctly, the last time they will be face to face until they’re standing on the Field of Merrilor. Which means this is the second to last time, ever, that they will see each other. And Mat uses it to leverage the commanding officers of the entire Band to make a very public display of deference to Egwene – even though he personally can’t quite believe she’s really been raised to the Seat – because he cannot stand to see her colleagues treat her with such blatant disrespect.
And then when he asks why Egwene’s even seeing him off in the first place, though she can’t publically tell him everything she very pointedly tells him that she still considers him a friend, and to stay out of trouble in the same way she would if they were back in Emond’s Field. Despite Mat’s indignation at this in the moment, on a reread you can almost feel the horrors that await Mat in Ebou Dar looming over the narrative even before you consider that Egwene’s had a ton of very symbolically-laden Dreams about Mat’s future; and so to me this reads as a very earnest, almost anxious warning to take caution. An indirect apology for sending him off like this, and a hope that he comes back safely. I am going to start crying

On the subject of 'the Gray Ajah is underrated' I feel like everyone just kind skates passed the WILD implications of Beonin telling us that a big part of her duty was catching murderers.
