oh Hymn to Virgil is extremely Hua Cheng
Yeeeesssss!!! FINALLY someone said it! I was listening to this song and just thought „This is 100% Hua Cheng‘s POV“
Literally all the lyrics fit perfectly.
„If I held in my hands everything the world could buy I‘d still not have a thing worth giving you“
Tell me this is not something he‘d say. Nothing is truly worthy enough for his god.
„You tell me the sun is shining in paradise and I have to watch your lips turn blue“
The unfairness with wich Xie Lian is treated/Xie Lian getting banished from heaven/also makes me think of that scene where he‘s a ghost fire and tries to warm Xie Lian
„I would burn the world to bring some heat to you“
He would do anything for Xie Lian
„You are the reason I went through it“
Xie Lian is the reason he stayed alive, fought in the war, took on the resentful spirits of the human face disease and fought through mount tonglu to become a ghost king
„The only meaning as I knew it“
Him taking Xie Lian as his meaning to live
„And I can only do my best, I do not do this for myself, I‘d walk through hell on living feet for you“
He isn‘t doing this out of any „selfish“ desire to be loved by his god, he doesn‘t do it „for himself“
„I wouldn‘t be seen walking through any door, some place that you‘re not welcome to“
As OP said, Hua Cheng refusing to stay in heaven and become a god because Xie Lian isn‘t there and was banished
„You stare at the faces smiling from somewhere warm, from some place the sunlight won‘t come through“
Again the unfairness with wich Xie Lian has been treated, but it especially made me think of the 33 gods
So, yes, literally ALL the lyrics XD
