next person i catch saying "umm actually this (male fictional character) is a bottom because hes PATHETIC 🤣" is getting an axe to the back of the head. explain to me why you think being sexually penetrated is an inherent demeaning act reserved only for those you see as weak without being misogynistic &/or homophobic. quickly

People universally seem to parse it as Mean but sometimes what you really, really need to hear is "this is not a socially appropriate thing to say, and you should not have said it"
genuinely nothing is more corrosive to love, respect, or trust than the insecurity of forever being second and last in line. of always being the plus one but never invited; always tolerated on their behalf but never wanted on your own. of knowing that nobody's jealousy or admiration is about you at all, only your place at their side. you tell them that you feel like you only exist when you're with them, and they laugh, charmed, but it isn't a figure of speech. it's not enough that they love you best if everyone else loves them better.
okay some people are misinterpreting this as talking about people who treat you like a pity project and like they're doing you a favour by choosing you. this isn't necessarily about relationships made toxic by people who don't value you enough. this is about knowing that you're socially disposable and being unable to accept the love that you're offered because you resent how much your life depends on it.
if I see one more "why age verification is bad" post that doesn't even bother to mention that locking young people out of huge sections of the public sphere - literally the stated goal and primary impact of this shit - is wrong in and of itself I will simply start hitting people with bricks
yes yes biometric data privacy blah blah adults can hypothetically by harmed by this too. what about the immediate and deliberate and not at all hypothetical harm to youth. why are you acting like a potential data leak about what your face looks like, which if it ever happened would at least be generally recognised as a problem, is a more serious issue than cutting millions of people off from information and community and public expression which is happening right now in the open with large scale support
it's got the stench of fucking "banned books week" on it. thousands of adults congratulating themselves for reading books literally no one is trying to stop them from reading while doing nothing to improve access for the young people who are the ones actually having those books made off-limits to them.
Okay, everyone close your eyes and imagine your dash post Buddie first kiss. The gifs. The edits. Everyone's changed their icons. It's beautiful chaos.
So.
Should Buddie get together during the mullet era?
Yes, Buddie should get together regardless of questionable hair choices
No, actually, I can wait, it's fine, don't worry about it.

i sympathize deeply with the desire to put eddie diaz in a crop top but it is never going to be (a) comfortable for him or (b) his idea. UNLESS!! he is attempting to stealthily seduce his best friend into making the first move because the alternative is talking about his feelings and asking for what he wants out loud with words.
eddie refuses to look hen in the eye. he tugs at the hem of his shirt. "what?"
he can hear the judgment in her voice when she goes: "running out of ideas, huh?"
"i don't know what you're talking about."
"was it ravi who told you to do this?" she crosses her arms, and when eddie finally finds the courage to look at her face she's raising an eyebrow at him. "i'd say chim, but if it were in his hands you wouldn't be the one spiraling. or, not the only one, anyway."
there's a deadpan quality in her voice that speaks to a story that eddie absolutely wants to hear, but he's pretty sure if he asks, she'll just bring the topic back to him. instead, he goes: "it's just a shirt, henrietta."
"call me that again and i'm cutting your sleeves off next." eddie shuts up. hen pauses. "huh. actually-- those corners are pretty clean. fabric scissors. that means..." goddammit. "may?"
fuck. fuck fuck fuck. eddie groans, tilting his head back. the movement stretches his top up again. he tugs the hem down. "she said i needed to be in my 'slut era'."
hen gives him approximately the same grimaced expression that he had given may when she'd said that, because there are certain things you simply do not want to hear from a girl that you've known since she was still in high school. "and you...listened?"
actually, eddie had informed her that he had already had his slut era, the result of which is currently spending obscene amounts of money on eddie's credit card and eating him out of house and home. and then he listened. because he's trying to live and learn and find joy, or whatever.
look, eddie doesn't need this judgement. eddie is going through a lot, okay? "it's my nuclear option."
he tugs at the hem again, and hen's eyes follow the movement. she hums skeptically, which is kind of rude. hen doesn't get it. hen is married to the love of her life, who's also a rocket scientist who would probably understand if she confessed her love in a totally normal if slightly vague way. lesbians were so judgemental, is this what ravi meant when she called one of hen and buck's spats wlw/mlm hostility?
"and you've tried everything else?" she asks, sounding like she already knows the answer.
"mmhmm!"
"including...telling him?"
eddie stares at her. "don't be ridiculous, why the hell would i do something like that?"
hen pinches the bridge of her nose, exhales like she's dealing with a particularly idiotic patient. eddie's eyes glance behind her, dart back. she's already looking at him. damn.
"how's that working out for you?" she asks. eddie resists the urge to put her in a small headlock.
"fine," he grits out. the hem of his shirt shifts distractingly on the skin of his torso as he moves. how the hell do people wear these regularly?
"uh huh," eddie wishes hen would just start laughing at him, it would be less humiliating than whatever the hell she's doing now. "and that's why you've been trailing buck like a puppy, conveniently placing yourself in his line of sight this entire afternoon?"
"...no." because if eddie were doing that, it would not be working. and eddie refuses to be that embarrassing.
hen rolls her eyes. "buck!" she shouts over her shoulder. eddie scrambles to shut her up, but she kicks him in the shin with the unerring accuracy of someone who revels in his humiliation specifically.
six-foot-five of bubbly best friend bounces over, gives hen and eddie a beaming smile. eddie scrambles back up, tugging his shirt back into place. it curls up slightly again. he resists the urge to fidget.
"yeah?" he says.
"isn't eddie's shirt cute?" hen asks, with zero mercy. eddie watches as buck's eyes drag down over eddie's body, feeling his entire body light up inch by inch. he notices buck's eyes freeze somewhere around his torso, and he tells himself that the heat that rushes through him is just the natural result of being outside in the LA heat.
buck opens his mouth. hen leans forward slightly, anticipatory. eddie's breathing catches in his lungs. the entire time, buck's eyes linger on eddie's rolled-up shirt hem, the sliver of his torso.
"eddie," he says slowly. "did you cut one of my favorite shirts?"
i sympathize deeply with the desire to put eddie diaz in a crop top but it is never going to be (a) comfortable for him or (b) his idea. UNLESS!! he is attempting to stealthily seduce his best friend into making the first move because the alternative is talking about his feelings and asking for what he wants out loud with words.

[hey buck, i bet you thought I was still too mad to write this. i am still mad, but i think it's not fair that dad still gets to talk to you, so. i saw this and remembered how you used to send postcards to aunt maddie while you were still a little mad at her. i'm still a little mad at you, so i thought they fit.
have you ever been to el paso before? do you have a postcard from there?]
[hi chris!!!
buddy, you have no idea how happy I was to get your postcard in the mail. I love it!! I've never been to el paso, believe it or not. Maybe I passed it on the way somewhere, but I never stayed there. I wish I had! maybe I would’ve met the diazes earlier :)
I looked around for a postcard to send back to you, and this reminded me of the planetarium trip we had planned before you left.
how has it been in el paso? any cool zoos? I bet they’re not as cool as the ones here.
keep sending me postcards, if you find any fun ones! I’m thinking of starting a collection.
I miss you so much, bud. we both do.]
[i don’t want to talk about dad.
it’s okay here, i guess. i haven’t been to the zoo in el paso. grandma and abuelo says that it might be ‘too tough’. i don’t get it, it’s way smaller than the la zoo. it’s nice to see my cousins again, i guess.
i wish we got to go to the planetarium before dad fucked everything up. kelly said that the new exhibit was super cool. did you go without me?]
[hi chris!!!
of course I didn’t go to griffith without you! it would be boring without my favorite person coming along with me. I just went into the gift shop to buy this, because I wanted to find a postcard that was cool enough for you!
It sucks that you haven’t been to the zoo. Maybe you can ask if you can go with your cousins? They seem fun!
It‘s pretty busy around here, which I guess isn’t a great thing, since it means people are in trouble. The new captain kind of sucks, and we all miss bobby a lot.
At least there were lots of fun calls. I want to tell you about all of them, but I’m running out of room on this postcard- maybe I could email?
still miss you lots!!]
[just text like a normal person, buck. it’s kind of annoying to write a ton of stuff on these anyways. they’re so small. are postcards ableist?
it sucks that your captain is bad. is everyone okay? denny says his mom seems annoyed too.
i miss you too, i guess.]
[hi chris!!!
yeah of course! I wasn’t sure if you would be comfortable with me texting you, but if you’re okay with that then I’ll do that instead! I’ll miss your postcards though. But I miss talking to you even more. Maybe you can send them to me still, even if you don’t write anything? or you can write a letter and put it in an envelope with one, so it’s easier to write! whatever you want, superman. I’m just happy to keep talking to you.
the new captain is still being annoying. I know you don’t want to talk about your dad, but he’s been kind of tough on him. Especially without the world’s best kid.
I’m sure he’d appreciate a word from you. I can pass it on, maybe?
Still missing you like crazy, bud.]
[i can still write some stuff on the postcards. it’s not that bad. besides, grandma never lets me handwrite anything. she says that it’ll upset me if i write too slow. which is stupid, because i know how slow i write.
i still don’t really want to talk to dad. i don’t want him to quit firefighting because of the shitty captain, though. i don’t think i can call you to come over to deal with the crashout if i’m in el paso.
you can tell him that, i guess.]
[hi chris!!!
it was so so good to talk to you again, kid. you have no idea how much I needed that. Your dad really appreciated the hi, too, even though I know it’s embarrassing to bring it up.
I meant to tell you this on the call, but I guess it’s more fitting here anyways. you know how I wrote all these postcards to maddie while I was still a little angry at her? Well, I think the reason that I kept sending those postcards, even while I was mad, even though she never answered, was because I knew somewhere inside that she needed them. and because I always want to talk to her, even when I’m mad. because I always love her bigger than being mad at her.
sometimes, the people you love the most are the people you get the maddest at, because you know they’ll love you no matter what.
love you and miss you, kid.]
[you're not slick, buck.
(take a picture for me if dad cries, i need the blackmail.)]
[hey dad.
I'm still pissed at you.
did you and mom ever go fishing together?
ps. i forgot my headphones at home. can you bring them over when you take me home?]

Haunted house horror movie where the humans are house flippers and the audience is rooting for the ghost to kill them before they tear down all crown molding and paint all the wood.
i do think what gets ignored about carrie as a character is that she’s an incredibly easy target to bully; she’s a chubby, sheltered acne ridden teenage girl who wears frumpy grandma clothes and regurgitates the jesus freak shit her violently abusive mother tells her. she has violent thoughts about her classmates and is uncomfortable to be around. she’s far more interesting being a victim that’s somewhat uncomfortable to be in the head of than a tragic waif. she’s not a martyr, she’s a child and a child who’s been victimised her whole life shouldn’t have to be kind and angelic to be recognised as a victim. suffering teenage girls shouldn’t just be presented on screen as toned down glamorous thin ophelias, suffering teenage girls can be fat and poor and think violently. i do think we need to examine why culturally we need teenage girls to be beautiful and kind to valorise their suffering and treat it as bad
