the widespread idea/meme that qifrey and olruggio are living in two different genres where qifrey thinks he's living a greek tragedy and olruggio thinks he is living in a slice of life BL manga is of course very funny, however that is to me a misrepresentation of olly's perspective specifically. I think olruggio thinks he's living in a slightly depressing piece of nordic social realism cinema about how life will never be quite what you wanted it to be and all you can do is get to terms with that as best you can and then either way one day you'll at least die

The fact that Qifrey and the kids and the fandom and the hecking narration and really even Olly himself all bully Olruggio for drinking excessively but the only time we ever actually see him "overindulge" is in the does-this-count-as-canon kitchen spinoff and there he's half-asleep and refusing refills three drinks in while Qifrey's pouting about how he was just getting started. Slander and libel on Olly's good name. That man is an occasional social drinker who got slightly tipsy at a fancy arts patronage fundraiser one year and no one ever let him live it down. and Qifrey is a functional alcoholic wine mom.
