I have opened up my diary for more online therapy sessions 💻 If you would like to book in a 20 minute consultation, contact me to book. Here are some of the benefits of online therapy 👇 ⭐️ Flexibility in day/time - If you have a busy schedule, whether it's working in an office or studying at university, online therapy can give you greater flexibility in scheduling appointments. ⭐️ Comfort being in your own space - I always recommend finding a comfy, quiet spot for your online session, with a stable internet connection. This can be sat in your favourite place with a mug of tea (or hot chocolate!). ⭐️ No need to commute - If you have limited options for commuting or don't want to travel, online therapy can be as simple as using your phone or laptop for a session. ⭐️Greater availability - I have opened up my diary for more daytime/lunch appointments, which gives both client and therapy more availability for session times. ⭐️Privacy in your own home - With online therapy, you don’t have to travel anywhere or worry about encountering anyone in a waiting room. Your sessions will be conducted in complete privacy, with no risk of bumping into someone you know or being in a space with strangers when you’re feeling vulnerable. ⭐️Making sessions accessible - I can work with anyone in the UK for online therapy, giving clients more choice in who they would like to work with. ✨Celebrations and Changes✨
After a social media hiatus, I am back! I’m very excited to announce that I completed my MSc with a Distinction🌟It has been a very difficult 3 years and I’m very excited to see what happens next.
I have also received confirmation that I am now a Registered Member MBACP🧠
I haven’t posted on here since May, but there has been plenty of work happening behind the scenes. Becoming a therapist is more than polishing off a website or finalising paperwork. There is a deeper journey and I’m very happy that major milestones have been hit! 👩🏻🎓
last year i used to sleep from 5 am to 10 am every day and it was Not Good for me. i’ve gotten a couple of questions about my sleep schedule so i thought i’d share some tips that helped me adopt a healthier sleep schedule. enjoy 🛏💤
✨Happy Monday!✨

✨The only person who is educated is the one who has learned how to learn and change✨
*
The person who often knows you the best, is you. Carl Rogers was the founder of "person-centred therapy", focusing on client becoming their true self through empathy and acceptance. He often spoke about how humans are instinctively curious about the world around us and eager to learn 🧠
*
Therapy can help to create a safe environment for you to explore and learn about yourself in a different light. Change is one constant we have in life and embracing this can help lead to personal growth🌱
✨Time to Talk Day 2021✨
*
This year’s theme is “The Power of Small”, highlighting the important acts we can take to make a big difference. Having an open conversation around mental health can be daunting to some, filled with shame and worthlessness. The more conversations we have about mental health, the closer we are to ending the stigma attached to it. Conversations, not matter how big or small, over a coffee or a walk can make a huge difference to someone.
*
If someone has opened up to you about their mental health, here are some tips on how you can support them!
🌟Just being there to listen without trying to fix it. Sometimes all we need is someone just to listen
🌟Don’t treat them differently - keep doing the things you’d normally do together
🌟Ask them if there’s anything specific you can do to help
🌟Sometimes it can help to research their condition but it’s important to understand their experience first

✨Do you journal?✨
*
Journaling has been something I’ve done on and off for many years and my New Years resolution is to journal more of the everyday! I find it particularly helpful when I’m able to read back on achievements and revisit how I felt in that moment. I often recommend journaling to my clients, as it can be used in numerous ways from dumping anxieties to monitoring our goal progression.
*
Journal prompts can be a great way to find direction but can sometimes feel overwhelming if we don’t have the “answer”. I’ve recently downloaded Self-Care Journal Prompts from The Blurt Foundation which has lots of free resources to help if you’re feeling stuck with journaling!
*
Benefits of journaling:
💭Can help to organise thoughts and relieve stress; enabling us to reflect with a visual aid
📈Helps with goal setting and keeping track of our ambitions, motivation levels and much more
🛋A space where we can be creative and note down ideas we can revisit
*
Let me know if you’ve experienced any benefits from journaling or have any helpful prompts below!👇
✨Children’s Mental Health Week✨ * Today marks the start of #childrensmentalhealthweek The past year has been extremely difficult for a lot of children, so it’s important to encourage and support conversations around mental health. * The theme this year is Express Yourself! There are many different, creative ways someone can express themselves no matter what age. This week is about helping to raise awareness around the importance of children’s and young people’s mental health. * Here are some useful helplines I recommend to my own clients! If you have anymore, comment below👇 * Childline can be used by children up until their 19th birthday. You can either call or online chat with someone for support. The childline website also has some great resources and information on a range of mental health issues childline.org.uk * The Mix can be contacted by call or online chat. They also have a Crisis Messenger which you can contact by texting THEMIX to 85258 themix.org.uk * Samaritans can be contacted by call or you can also email them at [email protected] They also offer a “Self-Help App” which includes coping techniques and a mood tracker www.samaritans.org * Shout is a 24/7 text service. They also have different resources and coping technique suggestions on their website giveusashout.org * Kooth offers an online chat counselling service for young people www.kooth.com https://www.instagram.com/p/CKwDm9PnF_s/?igshid=1bm99xgkbgi90

it will come eventually, don’t give up 💛
✨You don’t have to understand life. You just have to live it✨ * I read The Midnight Library over the Christmas holidays and I’m itching to read it again! Exploring the multiple lives of Nora lead me to reflect upon myself and the unknown world of “what if?” * Sometimes we can fall down the rabbit hole of overthinking and regret, but these experiences help to shape who we are today.
Invest in self care. You deserve healing. You will recover, darling.
Taking time out to look after ourselves can feel strange when we have grown up focusing on the needs of others.
Self care doesn’t need to be expensive retreats or spending £££ on luxuries. Self care can be putting boundaries in place when someone upsets us, taking 5 minutes out for a quick breathing exercise, saying no when we’re tired and feeling burnout.

Box Breathing
There are lots of different versions of breathing techniques, but I find this one the easiest one to stick to. Find a comfortable position and focus on your breathing.
You breathe in for 4 and out for 4.
If you don’t have a visual guide like the one above, use something square/rectangular around you to help you focus. Integrating breathing exercises in your life takes patience and is something we slowly train our body to naturally do when we’re feeling stressed or anxious. Why not try starting with box breathing each morning or before you go to bed for a week? See if you notice a difference to your stress levels and breathing.

Person as Process
‘A person is a fluid process, not a fixed and static entity; a flowing river of change, not a block of solid material; a continually changing constellation of potentialities, not a fixed quantity of traits.’
- Carl Rogers, On Becoming a Person: A Therapists View of Psychotherapy.
